Game runs awfully in VR
Hi there. Before the simulator update, the game ran perfectly fine in VR for me, but after the simulator update, its VR performance has become downright carcinogenic.
I have 32 GB of RAM, an RTX 3060, and a Ryzen 5 5600X 6-core CPU. Even on low settings the game runs terrible on my Valve Index, with noticeable smearing whenever something movies and just overall incredible lag with every movement and looking back and forth. Is there any fix for this?

If you are running 150% resolution, don't use TAA/MSAA and vice versa.
The Altfuture discord has a dedicated VR page with tips and questions from users.
There is also a great mods section too. https://discord.gg/2YwbxfjJ

Is there a way to link to that VR page specifically? Because I only see a bunch of chat channels, none of which have VR in the name (and, being chat channels, make it very hard to find anything in them).

Rather stupidly, the VR section is in the 'off topic' part. I think the devs have forgotten DV's roots.

This is definitely not expected behavior on that hardware. Do you still have that when you adjust graphics settings?

The #vr channel on our Discord is intended for general, off-topic VR discussion, unrelated to Derail Valley. For Derail Valley discussion, VR or otherwise, there is the regular #dv-discussion channel, as well as others.

I have the same...

I'm running a Ryzen 5500, nvidia 4060 and 32gb of ram and a Rift S.

The game is flickering and my machine struggle. I used to play with a 1080 back in 2021 and i feel like the performances and the graphics were better.

I did try steamvr and occulus mode but no changes... was not able to make it works with openxr...

Not too sure what to do anymore to enhance the vr expérience. I have no issues whatsoever with other games.

I'm running a 5800x3d and RTX4070 and VR performance (VD and Airlink) is largely fine, except around the offices where the frame rate is bad enough to make me nauseous. It's the only game that still does that to me nowadays.

I made my game run better by lowering the resolution using the SteamVR settings, and kept the graphics settings on high. It's hard to read things at distance but besides the occasional stutter, the game runs smoothly.

I have a 3080 laptop 5900hx.

Yes, drop your resolution to 50% and increase from there.

It runs in 60FPS when I play on PC, but runs in like 30FPS when I play on pico 4 headset. I guess it has to render two screens in VR so that half the frame rate? Also, I didn't have issues in other VR games.

The problems lessen when I set the graphics settings lower, disabling vegetation entirely especially helps, but then the game turns into a Windows XP wallpaper. If I try running on medium settings there are noticeable black regions on the sides of my field of vision where the game hasn’t loaded the visuals yet. I’ve played mostly on desktop since even on low settings I have serious lag problems. I’m compelled to think it’s an issue on my end, but I don’t know what.

Note that the game runs perfectly fine for me on desktop, even with ultra settings. So maybe it’s a problem with my VR hardware.

VR has "wait for vsync" (or something like that) on. As soon as you dip below 60, it'll be 30. With VR, you don't get 59 or 55, it'll be half the refresh rate, so you don't get screen tearing and player vomiting.

Same problem here for awhile on the Index. What solved it for me was rebooting the game several times and then it finally played like normal. I'll disable the TAA/MSAA on my next launch and see if that helps performance. Ryzen 7 3700x cpu / RTX 2080 graphics
