Derail Valley

Derail Valley

Issue with the SH282
So for some reason it won't build any pressure. The steam dump is off, the coal fire is roaring hot, lots of water but no pressure. No clue what I'm doing wrong, it was working earlier

Do you have the power lever (what's it called) set to off/neutral?

If the boiler is completely full, the water cannot boil and turn to steam. Make sure to only fill the boiler to 70% or 85%.

I'm not sure how you dump water out of the boiler, so you might want to try messing with the valves until the boiler water level goes down.

The regulator is set to off and the cut off is in the middle position

I didn't think you could overfill, maybe that's the issue i'm having

the game isn't that realistic (yet). Boiler full doesn't really affect the steam buildup in my personal experience.

The regulator in the game is the reverse of IRL. It needs to be pulled fully towards you just FYI

Pretty sure overfilling isn't modeled yet. Just double-checking, though: The regulator is pulled all the way out? That's off ingame and might be different from the way it's IRL.
EDIT: ninja'd

Yup the regulator is all the way towards me, I've had her running before but for some reason she doesn't work now

have you tried restarting the game?

is she damaged? not building pressure is the steamer version of not starting if too damaged as per diesels

maybe a screenshot of the loco from the inside?
maybe we see whats wrong.

btw you can use a little bit of the "blower" for better heat in the firebox.

Are you sure that there is water in the tender? The loco or one of the gauges could be glitched.
I just ended up getting a new one because this one gave me trouble lol. Tender was filled, both tender and train were unharmed

is the problem still there with the new loco?

Nope, the new one is best kind, I was probably doing something wrong with the other but just gave up on er, thanks for the help guys I really appreciate it

Probably you ran out of water and instead of overfull there was no water at all in the boiler. Always have the watermark visible.
