What THE actual F!?

How many times do I have to restart this game because of stupid friggin crap??? My second job...So I'm moseying along hauling "empty" tankers. Five of them. Not even 5 minutes into my trip (and like I said I wasn't even speeding)... the second tanker back decides to come up off the track. It was literally floating above the track, still connected to the other tankers. It's my second job so obviously I didn't have the money to reset it.

So fine, I've got an idea! I'll go back to the food place and get another job and trash that one! Great idea (in theory). So I do just that. I start heading down the track with my new cargo. Low and behold this train was on the same track (STILL) that I needed to finish the "replacement job".

I then decided to take the previous train and disconnect the other tankers (from the defunct tanker). Then, with my new train I slowly move up to the remaining tankers and connect them and pull them out of the way. Great (I thought) this is going to work! Now I go back to my previous train. It still had a tanker connected to it. I decided maybe I can ram this idiot tanker off the bridge?? So I head down the track in a hurry. I get some distance (maybe a quarter mile) and then stop. Throw that baby in reverse for a hell ride of derailing proportions! I ram that stuck tanker at full speed baby! Guess what happens next?

You're right if you said I killed that engine and the tanker barely budged off the track. So now what? Will it eventually get cleaned up by some sort of magic? Because to my knowledge, when you cancel another job it was supposed to delete that train. My dilemma is I can only take two jobs. Now I have two jobs and to finish (the replacement job) I have to go a ridiculous length all the way around the map. And guess what? That second job was super close, just down the way.

SO WHAT THE F AM I SUPPOSED TO DO?? Does anyone feel like sharing their save file so I can relieve this ENORMOUS head-ache that is starting to form????


FYI: This is my third go from scratch at this game. And I don't know if I have it in me to start over again.. and I'm playing in VR. So this headache of mine is real.

In your second job you probably don't have any license besides the ones you get in the tutorial, so rerailment is free. And your copai is only $100, so you can just pay it, dumb the job and teleport to another city to respawn everything from scratch. But it will only despawn after you've paid for the damages, as far as I know.

Jump on the discord, probably someone can help you with your save file anyways.

You're right, it was my third job. I lucked out and got paid 37k on my first job to harbor town. I took a haul from there to the food place. I then paid for two licenses allowing me to do this particular job. It was a logistics job. Thanks anyway, but I'm hoping the dev will chime in at some point. He seems to be active here in the comments.

To be honest with you, I have no dang clue. I decided to mod it since this comment. And now it is more broken than ever. Do you play this in VR by chance?

What the hell ??? I've close to 200h in this and I've seen some seriously weird bug, but nothing to that extent. The discord might be able to help you quicker than Steam forums if you post pictures... But sometimes "Have you tried to turn it on and off ?" just works.

I've never heard of a floating tank car before, unless you mean it just derailed. It doesn't matter if the game is being played in VR or nonVR, in this context it shouldn't make any difference.

Unless you bought CCUR1 or LONG1 license, you can rerail any vehicle for free. If you bought any of those, it will have a cost but still affordable. Note that rerailing cost is determined by distance, so rerailing a car that's already close to tracks can cost as little as a couple hundred bucks.

The car would have eventually despawned, but once you're sufficiently far away. If it's blocking the way and you can't go through, the best course of action is to go another way to your destination.

But even then, if you decided to ram it off, you only need to pay the copay (which isn't too big at the start of the game) to repair the locomotive. It's not possible to go bankrupt so there is no reason whatsoever to restart the game.

Just go to another location (by fast travel or teleporting) and take another job that doesn't go through that blocked section. That's really all.

No offense but you are not listening to me. I can't teleport, too expensive. And re-railing attempts have failed every time because it's says insufficient funds. I knew I should have been recording or at least have taken a screen shot. I took this load after buying 2 licenses. So I could do logistics hauls (I think is what they are called). But just because something has never happened before that doesn't mean it can't or won't. I was literally just chugging along at 30-40 kmph with no tight turns or anything and all of a sudden the engine failed and shut down and there's was a loud noise. That's when I went out to see that the second car back had somehow managed to derail itself straight up into the air off the track. It was still connected to the other cars. I tried everything I could think of, from bumping it a few times lightly; to disconnecting and reconnecting. I gave up on that save and started over (yet again).

From here on out I am recording my gameplay. I'm becoming annoyed by everyone's responses "this never happened to me!? I've played for 200-500 hrs!". Okay that's great! But still, it has happened to me for whatever reason :/

I've just been playing on another new save in desktop mode (for now). This time I'm 5 jobs in with 60k in my pocket. I'm not buying any licenses until I reach 100k. So far so good and I'm finally getting the hang of it. I am learning the land and where and when to break, throttle, and coast. My last job I had to finish in 32 mins from food place to steel. The load was a hefty five car junk steel haul. I finished it in 32 mins exactly! And let me tell you, this sure is a challenging game. It forces you to learn the map will all it's hills, dips, and twists. And just so you know, I do like it. I'm not trying to brow-beat the game. But mainly am here to share my experiences. I'll get it down.

Four runs later and I'm up over $140k. Feels nice knowing I won't have to restart AGAIN lol :D

I hear you. It sucks you had that experience with a strange derailment, and unfortunately without knowing how to reproduce it there's not much that can be done about it. At least now we'll know to pay extra attention to more reports of the same, if they come.
