If yes: The controls are linked, you may drive from either cab. If you're using shunters, be aware that only the front locomotive will have full airflow for cooling.
If no: The controls will not link until you have the Multiple Unit lisence and connect both locos using this cable.
The towing capacity does not double in my experience, but pretty close to it.
one shunter can carry max 400 t so 2 units can carry 800 t normaly it is good to stay 200 t under the max carry number
You can pull more than 400t from e.g. OWN to HB. Just make sure you got enough momentum going uphill south of Steel Mill. 60 kmh will be good.
Reaching OMN with 400t will hardly be possible. You need to stop to cool down, but then you won't get momentum again.
Someone ever did it up to OWN with 400t and the shunter?
