VR controls
After spending all my money, I now have an Index, So first thing I do is start playing this, I can do most things I need to do but I can't turn pages in the books, as books are critically important in this game, I really need to know the gesture/button for turning pages in books.

Hold the trigger and push the joystick to the sides.
Left: Next page.
Right: Previous page.

no, couldn't get that to work, tried a dozen different things, tried changing controller schema, nothing worked for me. =\

Maybe your controllers are faulty, have you tried reinstalling the drivers?

idk, new to everything, but all seems to be working excellent, no hint of a hardware limitation.

yeah, the train itself feels great in VR. The reset was REALLY annoying.... Using the station schematic manual as a test, I tried every gesture I could possibly think of while holding the book in my left hand and trying to flip pages with my right. I think I managed to trigger a page flip with my left hand while holding the book with my left but I spent several minutes until steamcrashed trying to reproduce the page flip and could not. =(

I was using Vive wands and everything worked great. Upgraded to Index controllers and it's a mess. I'm also having trouble turning pages, it seams to randomly work about 20% of the time and things keep falling out of my hands. And worst of all it's using the depreciated legacy SteamVR input so you can't properly remap individual controls. If they upgraded to the current API and properly exposed all the individual actions you could for example have movement on the stick and page turning on the trackpad without the need for the trigger combo.

Hi, what UAZ-469 described above it the correct way to use it. We'll look into this first thing on Monday to see if something is not right with the Index controls on our end, and see what we can do about it.

Did you try modifying the settings (e.g. item hold type from continuous to click)? That might help with the items falling out.

We dread this limitation too, however it's because Derail Valley input system was made before Index and SteamVR 2.0 existed, and upgrading would make the game incompatible with Oculus Store. This is something we want to work on in the long run, but there are currently other priorities that need to be sorted first.

yeah, got it to work finally, has to be same hand as holding, and may need to tap the trigger a
few times to get in right mode, won't work if just holding trigger to hold object.

I originally had it on click with the Vive wands and changed to continuous for the Index controllers because it's more natural with the grab action. But I've since reverted to click and using the triggers instead of grab to interact with everything and the issues are gone.

That's understandable. The current input system works ok, it's just not ideal for the Index. Even so the game is still playable and a lot of fun.
