Speed limits signs a bit much?
Overall I want to say that the developers have done an incredible job with this game. The one thing that kind of stands out is the speed limit signs. It seems like there are way too many signs. For example you ass a 60 km/hr then a 80 km/ht and then 50 km/hr all really close together. The speed limit should not change so much in very short sections. Also there are several places where signs are in the middle of the tracks like in the harbor and at the wye near the loop. Also there should be a single speed for yards instead of so many different speed zone.

A couple of additional suggestions:
Use a gravel only texture (no grasses) for the mainline track. This will identify the mainline easier in the yards.
Add support for throttle controls. Even in VR it would be nice to have a real lever to move instead of virtual.
I understand that there may be an alternative to the com radio for switches. What would be extremely useful is to have the state of the next switch on the com radio (i.e. "Next Switch: Left") but only show if the switch is within 5km or so. This way you can slow or stop your train before reaching the switch.

The devs are aware of the signs in the middle of the track, but as they don't cause any problems going in and out of said tracks they'll be fixing those after other higher priority items are taken care of. They're also aware that the speed limit signs do need some tweaking.

This has already been discussed a fair bit. The current system generates the signs procedurally which is why you get a 60 followed by a 90 almost immediately onto a 40. I think the developers are looking at a more conventional method of displaying speeds which will include advance warning boards prior to a significant drop in the limit. However flawed as the current system is, better than what we had in the early version where we were creeping around at 25 - 30 km/h.

I think this system is fun, at least you are forced to learn the routes. You will learn the optimal speeds after a few runs on the same lines :)

I wish there would be signals and NPC train(s), so i would be forced to pay attention to crossings.

Just have a look at the roadmap. ;) NPCs and signals are in the queue. Providing sufficient support the features will be added in the future, I guess.

I agree, I have stopped playing for now as I am kinda bored of coming around a corner at 80 to find a sign saying a much lower speed, but the problem is I have no way of knowing the speed limit till I get there! I have derailed so many trains lol.

Absolutely fantastic game, just needs fixing with the speed limits for now.
I think an interactive map with the speeds on the map would be much better.

Either way, can't be mad as it is still being developed and it is great so far anwyay.

The only stretch where you could remotely do more than 60km/h, is what some of us are calling the main line, north of Steel Mill to the river crossing. Elsewhere I run at no more than 60 km/h and on the various river gorge sections no more than 40 km/h. Means you don't get the bonus payout but if I'm hauling two or three jobs getting there in one piece and the $60k reward is more than enough.

Not quite true but admittedly that is the place where you can have the longest run at high speeds. But there are stretches of track between Machine Factory and City Southwest as well as south of Steel Mill towards Harbor (after the switch for Harbor, but before the terrain starts going downhill) where you can get up to at least 80 (and even more if you're plucky enough).
