Teleport can be overriden when restarting the game (until savegame is added), by right-clicking Derail Valley in Steam library > Properties > Set launch options > type "-skiptutorial" without quotes and launch game.
I play on Oculus home.....
Teleport and use are on the same button. I feel that use should always be trigger and teleport could be a stick click. I keep jumping out when im trying to do stuff. Since you have to use teleport at some points, maybe you should get rid of 'running' all together and increase the default slide speed. It seems like trigger is mostly unused in the game which is weird.
Next, the angle on the switch remote is awkward to use at least with touch controls. Hold the remote is fine but the beam comes out of the bottom instead of the front. You have to tilt it back at an unnatural angle for a wrist. I understand that the beam location allows you to see display on the remote indicating direction but just make that the default angle.
I think my last issue is the volume is way too loud. My HMD volume is at 16 and Im getting distortion. The map is huge! It took me like 45 mins to get from the Steel Mill to IMW. I plan to at least be listening to podcasts if not watching movies, turning down headset volume just makes it harder to hear anything else.
Some other things are just not clear; You are given lighter and shovel at the start (which i now realize must be for coal in the steam loco). There is stuff all over the tracks (trees, rocks, dirt) which made me think i may have to remove it. Dropping stuff puts it back in your inventory unless your inventory is full. Unless there are goint to be more items, maybe scrap the entire inventory thing and just have tool and manuals in a menu. That's all I can think of right now.
edit: last thing i promise: Warning and speed signs at turns and bridges. I derailed only doing 40 on a pretty easy curve.
In the railway that goes north from the sawmill you can see a floating section on your right before you approach the crossing

1. The locomotion option always resets back to teleport when the game is loaded.
2. Everytime I start the game I have to open the SteamVR panel and reset the seated position.
1. We will get to this as soon as major bugs/issues have been ironed out
2. Did you try the ingame recenter button? It's the one next to the main menu button, in inventory (and it can also be found in the menu I believe).
Ouch. Are you playing in VR and can you see the world at all, underneath you? If that is the case, going to settings > controls and changing locomotion to smooth will cause your character to fall down.
In VR, for me, performance is very poor. I am able to run a variety of other VR games, Skyrim VR, Lone Echo etc etc with no issues. There need to be a performance pass. Plus, the graphics settings are locked out in the menu. Hopefully with a range of graphics options, and a performance optimization pass, VR use can be fixed.
After reading some more comments elsewhere I'm more aware of what happened here. The game started in VR mode, while you don't have a VR headset. The fix is simple - right click Derail Valley in library and choose Play Non-VR version. You should be able to continue playing the game normally after this!
It is unfinished! That is the entire purpose of Early Access.
Regarding performance, while we will further improve it in the following period, please note that your PC seems to not meet the minimum requirements. The other games you listed are all finished by large teams with large amounts of resources, who have either small scale worlds or non-native VR integration. Derail Valley on the other hand is entirely being made by a 5-member team, has a very large world and is still in development.
