How to enable controller?

My controller is hooked up like normally but how do i enable it for the game?

Turn on steam overlay and use big picture to enable it.

In the Steam Client go to Settings>Controller>General Controller Settings>Select your controller type then close it. Try to restart Steam if it doesn't detect it.

I'm using the 360 controller. At the first start of the game it also didn't recognize it. For me it just worked by restarting Steam and then the game recognized the controller attached. Since then the game recognizes the controller every time, without me having had to go into Big Picture mode.

However, the game switches to the Big Picture mode overlay while in game and doesn't use the traditional one.

I have a DS4 controller. Didn't work first time, worked second time I launched the game and any other time too. Didn't have to fiddle with any settings, I'm not using Big Picture mode, and the game didn't switch to it either.

You can turn that off in the Client Settings.

In-Game>Uncheck "Use the Big Picture overlay when..."

Can someone help me bind my controller to the correct controls for keyboard for Okami? I have to do it manually for some reason.

I simply restarted Steam and that worked just fine.
I'm using an Xbox360 controller, so maybe other brands might need more work.

Well i think my bindings are all messed up

Exit Fraps is the key , try exit all running programs, maybe some app effect steam for recognition the gamepad
