PS4 Controller - Literally can't run forward

I can't run forward. Holding forward makes Ammy walk forward (as in really slowly) most of the time. I've spent the majority of the game running sideways to travel more effectively. If I have full speed from sprinting sideways and I end up pushing forward to run (due to the path or camera angle or whatever) I lose all my speed almost every single time.

Even if it's in passing, like running while holding the analog stick to 2 o'clock and moving to to 10 o'clock - when I go through Noon, I lose my speed... I just tackle constantly when the camera is fixed and I'm forced to run forward.


1) No. It is NOT my controller's fault. I've checked it out with two controllers in this game and other games -> the only game I have any problem with this is this game specifically.
2) Yes, I have read the "Regarding controller-related issues" pinned topic -> Yes I have done everything, including the "Note: Prior to launching Okami HD," thing.


I played the game in and out of Big Picture Mode.
Again, I did the "PS Controller configuration" thing in big picture's settings.
I've also played the game in and out of full-screen, if that matters.
NO. I did NOT mod the game.
In-game screen DOES show me PlayStation buttons for doing things.

I did google this and the only thing I found was someone who had this very complaint 10 years ago (for the Wii version of the game) with no fix.

Would you kindly not tell me to play on keyboard or swap out movement from the analog stick to the d-pad or some something.

Have you tried disabling SteamInput for the game and using another inputmapper like DS4win?
