Ghosting / duble image
Hello I would like to ask if this kind of ghosting is normal or if something is wrong with my game (I don't think it's because the 30 fps lock since it probably wouldn't be visible on a screenshot)

It's intended effect. You can turn it off using Kaldaien's mod.

Yeah it's been there since the ps2 version.

OK two things.
1 the mod doesn't seem to work for me (Can get to menu but no settings change anything and I tried both the older version and the newer one).
2 I played it on both ps2 and on emulator and this kind of stuttering image isn't there, I mean there is some blur and such but this isn't blur I literary see the image twice when I move my camera just a bit faster.
Edit: OK I was able to remove the bloom like ghost effect with a patch from here https://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/%C5%8Ckami_HD and the screenshots no longer have that effect, unfortunately the thing
I thought it was doing is still there when I move the camera the trees look like they are skipping instead of moving fluidly I don't mind 30 fps but i realy think this wasn't part of the game before, if it is any help
I do have a 240hz
monitor but I did try to set it to 60hz.

You're using pcsx2, aren't ya? It has compatibility issues with the 2d effects, including the shaders, brush screen, and enemy hit count, only with the directx used. Use opengl and it should work properly.
Even the wii version has this, both emulated or not.

I'm not sure if I said it right, I sometimes cannot find the right words (self learned English) so sorry about that. I actually don't have any problem in the emulator since I'm using software render, the problem is that in this PC version everything just tears up when I move the camera, it leaves a ghost behind and looks like crosstalk in front of everything, mostly visible on trees at day. It's actually so bad that my eyes hurt after an hour of play I have never experienced it with any other game even when they were locked at 30 fps (like the original dark souls) and I didn't saw it in any video so I'm kinda stumped here. I will try it on my laptop in the weekend (if it can actually run it at all).

Can you post a video? That doesn't seem normal.

Checked the screenshot again and it seems that the ghosting effect is too prominent I guess, the second inage is way too far from the original object.

Well that effect from the screenshot is gone after the patch from the pcgamingwiki.com but that tearing is still there (I guess what I saw in that screenshot was actually a postproces effect and not the tearing as I thought). I will try to make a video when I get back from work today.

Have you checked if vsync is on? I don't know much else of this. Maybe the monitor frequency like 144 Hz?

I played at 144Hz and didn't have issues like these. Have you tried reinstalling drivers etc?

It's normal there's a slight double-image effect (check some gameplay videos on yt or other people's screenshots), but the one on your screenshot seems way too much.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AF87eOQBSwQ OK I uploaded video on youtube
it's visible on the tree. It's tearing my eyes but it is even worse in game. I'm also starting to think it might be just my eyes but if you can confirm it, it would be nice. Sorry if I wasted your time.

That's just what 30 FPS looks like. I've tried Forza Horizon 3 capped at 30 FPS and when turning the camera the environment "jitters" like that even if the framerate is rock solid 30 withour drops.
Musk Feb 4, 2018 @ 2:32am
Yeah, don't see anything wrong on the video, except that it's 30 FPS. I definitely know what you mean though, at one point I've played games only at 100+ FPS, and once I got used to how nice and smooth it is, going back to even 60 FPS wasn't exactly ideal, and 30 FPS usually was painful to watch (and I'm not even exaggerating :P). But after a while I can get used to it, and when I played Okami it didn't bother me too much from the beginning.

So unless youtube compression is hiding anything, or unless your monitor is handling 30FPS weirdly, I'd guess it's just your eyes. Can't do much about it, except getting used to it :/
Raven Feb 4, 2018 @ 3:34am
Ok thank you, guess I was a bit confused because I didn't see anything like that in dark souls, but that might be because that game is a lot darker and there isn't as much space between things. As for the emulator and ps2, since it plays at a lot lower resolution everything blends together a bit so that might be it.
Musk Feb 4, 2018 @ 3:56am
Yes, a lot of screen effects in Okami worked better on PS2 imo, now in higher res they can look a little off.

Dark Souls though, I played with DSFix to get 60 FPS. There are some things that technically break when you do that, but I didn't even notice, played it for hundreds of hours before I learned that the 2 or 3 places in the entire game that have weird collision detection are caused by 60 FPS. But you can easily switch between two modes with Backspace (or some other buttons, I don't remember now). But I guess soon it won't matter too much, since the remaster is going to support 60 FPS without any problems.
