Sei'an City Charcoal Side-Quest bug of some kind...

The Sei' an City sidequest where you buy the charcoal and give it to the girl to design symbols doesn't appear to be working properly.

I've drawn the first symbol successfully (A Star, I got the "It looks like something could happen" text) but when I go back to get the second symbol (What SHOULD be a Heart), the game instead gives me the star again.

I draw the star and don't get the "you did it right congrats pat yourself on the back my dude" prompt, just the typical thing the dude says when you draw any 'ol thing there.
Next I tried going back and talking to the girl again after forcing a day night cycle (Drawing the moon, then drawing the sun) to see if I'd get the next design.
It's still the Star shape.
I tried drawing the Heart a few times anyways thinking it would trigger the "It looks like something could happen" text, but to no avail.
Then I tried leaving the city AND forcing a new day night cycle, AND drawing the star, then the heart again. No good.
I then tried saving to a different file and loading that file copy after returning to the title and doing everything above, nothin'.
I tried exiting the game entirely and trying everything above. Still nothing.

Would greatly appreciate some assistance or if anyone else has had this issue with this quest, as I'm going for 100%!

Update:
I drew the star pattern a few more times and eventually I got the
"That pattern almost seems as if it could make something happen"
text *again* a second time.
The girl then gave me the "Henshin" (or, V) pattern, completely skipping the Heart pattern...

I think the whole bug is very strange, I personally ignored what the girl was telling me and I went Star>Heart>Clover>Kanji before being stuck again because that is techincally the end where she gives you the strange bead. I tried drawing the V multiple times before giving up and just drawing the star once again and ended up getting the strange bead.

Good thing I bumped into this thread. I'll try drawing the star again after the star>heart>clover>kanji for heaven and see if it works out for me as well.

Edit: Apparently after I launched the game again, the heart appears now after the star. Very strange. But I'm stucked now in this heart pattern >.<.

Edit: The side quest went on normally and I got the stray bead now, how strange.
