Restarting steam and SCP service (using PS3 Controller) worked for me.
Whoops, Aesir posted before me almost what I said, so I deleted my post before seeing that you had answered me.
By "you don't lose nothing by trying" I wasn't talking about trying a 360 controller, but about trying to restart Steam. Davion said that the game has native DS4 support (and also 360 one), so there's a chance that simply restarting Steam also helps in your case.
every crapcom port since DMC (2013) has been lazy.

I don't use big picture and I just checked in big picture that I have the 360 controller support disabled (from the Steam options, not from the game options itself, since I didn't found there the option to disable the support). Are you sure it doesn't have native support at least for 360 controllers?
you have to enable it so an option to untick the box for support shows up. then disable it again.
and yes, no native support at all.
might aswell pray to jebus for all the good it'll do. valve don't fix things. they have outstanding problems for over 7 years.
