(Solved) Unsuccessful attempts to mod Reset back into credit. Capcom really makes it hard.
UPDATED:
Use the mod by kaiketsuworks.
Guide: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3390542231

OBSOLETED (Unless you want JPN Credit):
Links to the files:
mega. nz/#F!up0ghSha!rdP-ngNQmv1-tPc0wMwEcw
drive.google. com/open?id=174WyE3M9_XUhqQIUQPmMcRvRnkHCaeuI

Remove the space between the links and download the files.

Rename the files "staffroll_Reset", "staffroll_Reset_2k" and "staffroll_Reset_4k" to "staffroll", "staffroll_2k" and "staffroll_4k", respectively, and without quotes. If you use French, German or Japanese, replace "Reset" with your language first letter (F, G or J respectively).

After that, move the files to steamapps\common\Okami\data_pc\movie and overwrite the files if asked.

Done~!

At this point I'd just listen to the original song on Youtube. I know it won't probably have the same impact as hearing it during the credits but well...

I also had the same problems you had, except I didn't bother trying to convert using Scaleform since I figured I wouldn't have 4K footage.

Anyways I'm 99% sure Okami uses CRIWARE software for their audio and video encoding (since it appears as a logo before the main menu intro), and most likely this[www.criware.com] is the software we need. Mind the filenames on the screenshots. But it's not available for individuals, only companies.

So yeah, unless someone has this software we won't be getting Reset back even on PC, and even so it may be troubling because using this Sofdec2 for modding may be against the EULA.

There's a slim chance the Japanese build of Okami on Steam has the Reset song, but at this point this already should had been brought up. :(

Hmm, thanks for your info. Seems like they actually used sofdec2 and Adx2 for their media thingies.
I guess I will try something with these things (Probably not gonna work, but hey, what's keeping us from trying?)

Good luck. I would appreciate it : )

Likewise, this would be so good.

If you buy Okami HD in japan steam store, after downloading the game, in your movie folder, there is a file name staffroll_Reset.usm and two other for 2K and 4K. Since I have not beaten the game so I'm not sure it plays the credit with reset at the end, also the menu "Okami HD" change from english to kenji version

if you want to see if it has Reset or not, change its name to prologue.usm (backup the file prologue first), skip all the brand, don't skip the intro, the intro will play credit instead.

Can you upload any of these files so that we can download it? If it's the ending with Reset, then all we have to do is put that file in "movie" directory and change its name and it should work.

Or you could do what Git Gud said - change the name so that it plays instead of the intro so you can see if it is the ending with Reset song.

I'd be real awesome if it is, very easy fix and we can enjoy the perfect ending again :D

Looking into this it seems that the header information is just slightly different, which is why Toolbox cannot extract the file properly. It appears to be a slightly modified version of the regular usm file structure. Don't feel like reverse engineering it though.

Edit: Probably just providing the wrong video format. I've gotten it stuck on a white screen attempting to load a video.

Would it possible to also mod back in the original Japanese logo in the English version?

Would it work if the movie file would be taken from the PS3 version? The PS3 version was developed by the same people who developed this version, so maybe the movie files were also encoded the same way?
Although it would require to also have the PS3 version and dump it on PC.

I'm guessing it's different and therefore won't work, but might be worth a try. But right now, our best bet would be to find someone who bought the game in Japan, if what playerstean12 said is true.

I've just found something on SteamDB:
https://steamdb.info/sub/194743/
It's a link only to the Japanese version as Yen is the only curency listed and it has an extra depot that the worldwide version doesn't seem to have (here's the international version by the way - https://steamdb.info/sub/151918/ )
So what playerstean12 said might be true, can't be 100% sure though.
Would be nice if someone was generous enough to share that staffroll_reset file.

I have the Japanese PS3 version but unfortunately, my Blu-Ray drive can't read PS3 disks. Also, the PS3 version probably won't have a very high-resolution version of any prerendered scenes.
