Defeating Blockhead Grande
Well, I just did it. It took about two hours, I did the first attempt for 60 minutes (set a timer because frustration is guaranteed to screw you over) and did my second today and beat him 50 in. Got lucky when I got a for block on the bottom right and the rest weren't too hard.

For those that did it without the marker/camera trick, did you feel like a bit of a ♥♥♥♥ for it? In a weird way, he's the most brutal adversary of the game, more than the Devil Gates. I felt kinda bad when I finally did beat it.

Took me less than one hour for sure. But not much less iirc

I remember playing the PS2 version back in the day and I feel like that had even worse hit detection, I'd be right on that little stupid dot and for whatever reason it didn't count because it was a pixel off. The HD version is far more forgiving, though I agree it can take a very long time even if you do have a good memory. Congrats on getting through it.

I just filmed the whole thing with my smartphone and did it first try. Didn't feel like bashing my head against a Blockhead Grande for hours. xD

When I played the PS2 version I taped thin paper to the TV and used a marker on the spots.
It still took over an hour because it flashed too damn quickly and it needed very precise hits. That was one of those victories that left me more mad than satisfied.

The 天 took forever too!

On this, I've discovered that the final stroke isn't attached even though it looks like it should be. It's a separate stroke very close to the third one, but NOT. The controls aren't as finicky and precise as they look nor is the design clearly portrayed in the child's thought bubble. Also the star design can be done in one smooth stroke if you're careful and go slowly. Just in case anyone else is struggling on that bit, there's that.

I have found another elaborate way to do this: you can use screen recording software, set the game to window mode, record the pattern, then, when the drawing begins, hold the brush button on gamepad, and then and ALT+TAB, stop the recording, and then play the video, and then ALT+TAB back into the game. And then can go back and forth, as long as you hold the brush button, the game may remain paused, and can easily set the brush pattern.

I suppose, I could feel bad about doing that. But then again, I am sharing it with you.

If you have to cheat, you didn't really beat it. But on the other hand, videogames are supposed to be fun. And I don't think anyone would call Blockhead Grande "fun".
