The game doesn't require you to use new weapons immediately after obtaining it, you don't need to worry about difficulty at all.
Glaives are great for jumpers and people that know how to keep a bit of distance. I don't usually use glaives until after I have the dodging ability, (The one they deals damage) because it makes it easier to swing repeatedly and not take too much damage. You can also charge them in the air or while ground for more damage. However, enemies like Tengu make the glaives seem really cruddy so go for something like rosaries or that has multiple attacks while midair.

Imo, glaives are not that great until late game, but that's just my opinion.
you mean hit&kill tactics?
im little past Yoshpet and using that EIGHTsmth glaive, it one shots almost everything. Have both slots on glaives with that technique to boost dmg.
