I mean it was tackled by pretty much an entirely different team. Most if not all of the key developers and writers of Okami had nothing to do with Okamiden and IMO it shows.
For example, there's Secret of Mana on Steam, but it's a 3D remake. Or recently they released Chrono Trigger, but even though it's 2D, I hear there's some filters that can't be turned off that blur the graphics so that it's less pixelated. But in both cases, I would much prefer to just play these the way they were originally, with pretty 16-bit era pixel-art.
But that aside, I would like to try Okamiden on PC, even if they didn't make graphics any better. For me it's good enough if I can play at higher resolution, or at the very least, play at original resolution, but scaled withouth any filters bluring the resulting image.
Okamiden spoilers
They suddenly say that there was an additional threat that was in control of Yami all along and Chibiterasu has to defeat it. It also uses time travel to mess with the events of the original Okami, like suddenly having Chibiterasu be the one to use brush techniques to help Nagi defeat Orochi, or having this new villain be the one that actually killed off Shiranui, and a number of other things that feel incredibly forced for the sake of trying to connect the games but all they do is mess with the story of the original game.
I won't deny that the game actually has several gameplay improvements, the brush techniques feel right at home with a stylus for instance. But IMO it's not enough to offset the fact that it just takes environments and content from the original game, guts them, and then reuses them instead of making their own content, to say nothing of what the game does to the lore established in the previous game (which actually frustrated me most of all).
With the bigger screen on it, games are at a higher resolution but still the same in every other aspect. Its basically exactly as you wish, and portable! Except for the PC part of course..I love having all my old ds games on a larger screen. ~especially The World Ends With You~
Somthing to keep in mind since they are likely to go down in price at some point. I found mine on sale on amazon.
