Okamiden?
Okami is my all-time favorite game, and it was a perfect gameplay on Steam for me. But I haven't played Okamiden yet, and I will probably never will have a chance to do so, unless its going to be released for PC. Are there any plans from Capcom to release Okamiden on Steam as well?

no unfortunatly. They 'd have to completely redo the game since it was released on the nintendo ds and the resolution and... well everything is based on that.

While I respect those that feel otherwise, you aren't missing all that much IMO. It mostly just used watered down versions of assets from Okami rather than making it's own content (don't expect to visit many new areas, and the old areas you visit are heavily restricted), and while Okami drew from actual Japanese myth constantly Okamiden just sort of did it's own thing.

I mean it was tackled by pretty much an entirely different team. Most if not all of the key developers and writers of Okami had nothing to do with Okamiden and IMO it shows.

Why is it exactly impossible? I mean there are those ds games that got ported to mobile, namely FFIV and the world ends with you.

You could always emulate, it works fine with kb and mouse (or gamepad and mouse)... Anyway, Okamiden is worth playing if you like Okami in my opinion, it's a fun and charming game despite the hardware limitations.

those don't have 3d environments and textures though. and mobile is different than porting to pc

I know a lot of people probably wouldn't like to play a straight port of a DS game on a PC, but I'd love it if these kind of games were released on Steam. In fact, I would prefer them not to change/remaster anything, just make it run on PC and work as well as it did on original hardware.

For example, there's Secret of Mana on Steam, but it's a 3D remake. Or recently they released Chrono Trigger, but even though it's 2D, I hear there's some filters that can't be turned off that blur the graphics so that it's less pixelated. But in both cases, I would much prefer to just play these the way they were originally, with pretty 16-bit era pixel-art.

But that aside, I would like to try Okamiden on PC, even if they didn't make graphics any better. For me it's good enough if I can play at higher resolution, or at the very least, play at original resolution, but scaled withouth any filters bluring the resulting image.

What? FFIV is 3D in the DS version, as well as the mobile version.

It tries to explain it somehow... anyway, it's still a fun game on its own despite the plot holes.

ds sequels to ps2 titles were almost always disappointing. revenant wings was another such disappointment.

Revenant Wings was a disapointment?

It does explain it, but the way it explains it also does undermine the events of Okami IMO.

Okamiden spoilers
They suddenly say that there was an additional threat that was in control of Yami all along and Chibiterasu has to defeat it. It also uses time travel to mess with the events of the original Okami, like suddenly having Chibiterasu be the one to use brush techniques to help Nagi defeat Orochi, or having this new villain be the one that actually killed off Shiranui, and a number of other things that feel incredibly forced for the sake of trying to connect the games but all they do is mess with the story of the original game.

I won't deny that the game actually has several gameplay improvements, the brush techniques feel right at home with a stylus for instance. But IMO it's not enough to offset the fact that it just takes environments and content from the original game, guts them, and then reuses them instead of making their own content, to say nothing of what the game does to the lore established in the previous game (which actually frustrated me most of all).

I got a pretty cheap new 3dsXL, used [got lucky with absolutely no scratches, don't think it was even used.. but anyway]

With the bigger screen on it, games are at a higher resolution but still the same in every other aspect. Its basically exactly as you wish, and portable! Except for the PC part of course..I love having all my old ds games on a larger screen. ~especially The World Ends With You~

Somthing to keep in mind since they are likely to go down in price at some point. I found mine on sale on amazon.
