Found how to get Demon Fangs from the flying fish enemies

I've been trying to figure out how to get Demon Fangs from those flying fish enemies and I found a trick that actually works, which is to use the Ink Bullet power.
You gain it from equipping certain weapons as your primary/main weapon and using that when the fish try to chase you and blow you up with them.
If you can get their HP low enough before they explode after grabbing you (by using the Ink Bullet power with a lot of dots painted on them), you get the slow motion effect where you can slice them for a Demon Fang.

You definitely can't do it early in the game, or just really hard to do. Just drop its health near half, power slash, attack till die, then floral finisher.

Not the best enemy to grind it though, black imps are the best since they're easier + 3 fangs + 1 fang with the counterattack.

"Power Slash is the Dead Fish's Floral Finisher, but because it becomes extremely tough when it is low on health, it is fairly hard to set up.
The Floral Finisher cannot be achieved if the Dead Fish manages to attach to Amaterasu (as the Power Slash simply kills it) and the Fish will eventually explode if evaded, so it must be defeated quickly and with either jumping or ranged attacks.
Using the Ink Bullet ability from Snarling Beast is one of the best ways to defeat a Dead Fish and still get its Floral Finisher early on, since the first Rosary is too weak to kill a Dead Fish before it latches on. Placing Cherry Bombs between it and Amaterasu is also effective."

Yeah, I was struggling to get any from them, they would grab me and explode before I could finish them off without using the power slash pre-emptively.

I'll try it your way anyway thanks, I was just trying to figure out why I couldn't get one from them as opposed to grinding for them though.

The reason I mentioned the ink bullet method is that you can weaken them enough for them to get into the floral finisher state (thanks I forgot the term for it lol) and thus they can't get too close and try to take you out with them.

3 fangs from black imps with another from the counter attack? Wow! I think I remember something like that, but I've not played through the game in years.

Make that 4 with the counter ;). They become much more common in shinshu field after you beat the moon cave, that's why it's easier.

The counter attack move is awesome, the fact it gives a seperate demon fang for doing it succesfully is even better ofc!
