Here on PC, I played with m+kb and at first I had some troubles with larger fish, but after fishing for some time (since I wanted to do 100% run this time) I noticed that quickly tapping left/right buttons a lot, made it much easier and faster. You still have to hold the button until you get in the green area of the meter, but once you're there - try tapping a lot instead of holding and then letting go for slightly longer time.
For me, it not only made it easier to stay in the green zone, but also literally made these fish faster to catch - as in you have to spend less time in the green zone until you can get the fish out of the water and strike it with the brush. Hope it helps
Thank you so much!!
You basically have to do the same with the stick on the controller, hold until you are green and then have many small short movements against the fish to keep the marker in the green and the fish going towards you.
The only fish that can give you problems are those that make constant direction changes, with those you have to be patient enough and hold on to them until they give you a good movement pattern to reel them in. You also have to be aware of the borders of the area, as fish will change direction there and if you do it correctly you will change direction when they do.
Before I figured out that "trick" it was taking me forever to catch these harder fish, because no matter how much I tried to keep in the green zone it would still fall to the blue one every now and then. It was pretty hard to keep in the green zone for so long even if you got lucky with their movement. But once I figured out that tapping the button all the time, and not just holding while the meter is getting closer to the blue zone, every fish was pretty easy, because it was easier to stay out of the blue zone, and it took way less time overall until you can reel the fish out of the water.
Maybe that's what you're supposed to do and I was just doing it wrong before ;P And I didn't play on a gamepad this time, so I can't say if it's just as easy or not.
