Fishing help?
Is anyone having way too much difficulty fishing with the keyboard controls? I never had much trouble fishing playing on the wii, but I'm lucky if I get one of the fishes that need three strikes. Considering what is locked behind this - I really would rather at least get the hang of it.

Am I doing something wrong, or are there any tips for things you do that I may be missing? Please, help.

I've played the PS2 version years ago, but didn't get all the fish back then, and don't remember having much trouble with the ones that I did catch. So can't really say how it is with a gamepad.

Here on PC, I played with m+kb and at first I had some troubles with larger fish, but after fishing for some time (since I wanted to do 100% run this time) I noticed that quickly tapping left/right buttons a lot, made it much easier and faster. You still have to hold the button until you get in the green area of the meter, but once you're there - try tapping a lot instead of holding and then letting go for slightly longer time.

For me, it not only made it easier to stay in the green zone, but also literally made these fish faster to catch - as in you have to spend less time in the green zone until you can get the fish out of the water and strike it with the brush. Hope it helps :steamhappy:

I'll try doing that! The bigger fish have been giving me quite a bit of trouble, so I'll be trying your tip. The best I did, I ended up holding on to a fish for almost half an hour before falling into the water, so I doubt I can do worse. :steamhappy:

Thank you so much!!

The hardest fish are completely impossible with keyboard. Why they didn't use the mouse instead in beyond me.

I caught all of them with keyboard no problem, once I figured out the way that I mentioned above. Before figuring that out it was hell both on a keyboard and on gamepad, at least for me :P

As long as it's possible, I will keep on trying! The hardest fish are still kicking my ass, but I've been doing slightly better. I've realized the keys in my keyboard aren't quite as responsible as I'd wish, but I'll learn to work around it.

You basically have to do the same with the stick on the controller, hold until you are green and then have many small short movements against the fish to keep the marker in the green and the fish going towards you.

The only fish that can give you problems are those that make constant direction changes, with those you have to be patient enough and hold on to them until they give you a good movement pattern to reel them in. You also have to be aware of the borders of the area, as fish will change direction there and if you do it correctly you will change direction when they do.

Yeah, technically you do the same thing on both keyboard and gamepad, but you can mash the button faster on the keyboard, and that made it pretty easy for me even with the hardest fish.

Before I figured out that "trick" it was taking me forever to catch these harder fish, because no matter how much I tried to keep in the green zone it would still fall to the blue one every now and then. It was pretty hard to keep in the green zone for so long even if you got lucky with their movement. But once I figured out that tapping the button all the time, and not just holding while the meter is getting closer to the blue zone, every fish was pretty easy, because it was easier to stay out of the blue zone, and it took way less time overall until you can reel the fish out of the water.

Maybe that's what you're supposed to do and I was just doing it wrong before ;P And I didn't play on a gamepad this time, so I can't say if it's just as easy or not.

Thank you! It works.

I think they might have changed something because tapping the buttons doesn't work anymore. You have to hold them for a certain amount of time before it registers. Fishing achievement is the last one I need and the fishing sucks so badly.
