DSR Workaround (Nvidia Control Panel)
Edit: The Special K tool allows forcing the game into a higher resolution so this workaround isn't really needed anymore.

A workaround for getting DSR to work for me was going into my Nvidia Control
Panel and selcting 4K under Display < Change Resolution. I could then select any DSR factor I had in my settings.

Granted it will adjust your entire desktop resolution so it's not ideal to have to switch back and forth just to play this game, but hey 4K screenshots and no jaggies :D

tldr;
1.Nvidia Control Panel < Display < Change Resolution
2. Select 3840x2160 (4K) as your resolution
3. Launch game, choose resolution in either fullscreen or borderless windowed.
4.Save the world from evil.

Edit: Reachie said something like this works for AMD's VSR as well! Game on!

I actually tried just adding a custom resolution (so not change desktop res) and it didn't work. Other games display the custom resolutions I added but I still can't set Okami to anything higher than 1600x900 (my monitor is 1680x1050)

Ah, I think what I've done will only work for 16:9 aspect ratio resolutions. I think maybe the game just doesn't support 16:10, but just 16:9 and 4:3?

Noo I was talking about creating custom resolution w/o changing desktop resolution. That worked with other games but not with Okami.

That said, I can create custom resolutions and when testing them everything seems fine. But when I try to change the desktop resolution nothing happens, the screen just goes black for a second and reverts to my native resolution.

So, I can't even use custom desktop resolution for some reason.

I can confirm this also works with VSR.

Oh, I see. Yeah, I've never understood how to set custom resolutions so I just use the DSR - Factor settings under Manage 3D settings. Sorry I'm not able to help.

Actually got it working now, I had to just right click on desktop and select "monitor settings" to be able to set the desktop resolution. Now running the game at 4K and it still doesn't use even half the power of my GTx 960 :D

Sweet! Glad you got it working.

Yeah, I tried the game out on my laptop for kicks. Didn't notice any drops from 30 fps (1080p mind you) on a GTX 460m and i7-2360qm from 2010 hahaha. Runs great.

The game actually has inbuilt downsampling, i noticed there are a few options in the okami_cnf.ini (in AppData\Roaming\OKAMI HD) which are not available ingame there is a RenderScale option for example default is 10000 and max is 20000 which seems to double the rendering resolution (so the same as 4k on 1080p) looks very clean this way, dunno about the rest of the options i guess PPAAMode probably means post processing AA or something like that it's set to 0 by default.

I noticed an issue with DSR as well, I'm using a 1440p monitor btw. When my desktop is set to 1440p, I can only choose up to 1440p res in fullscreen mode, but when I set my desktop res to 2880p (200%) I still can only choose up to 2160p in fullscreen mode? Is this game somehow limited to not go higher than 2160p?
Musk Mar 10, 2018 @ 1:32am
As far as I remember, yes, the game doesn't support arbitrary resolutions, only a selected few up to 2160p. Don't know how to make DSR work, but there is a setting in some .ini file I believe that lets you change the resolution scale to get the same effect, but I don't remember where it was or whether the 2160p limit is still there.

The file might be in appdata or maybe even Okami directory.
