xbox one. and its irrelevant as I've said.

Why would that be irrelevant. Obviously you don't understand how an OS works. Have you installed the XBOX drivers for your OS .No controller is supported right out of the box.

He´s not the only one with gamepad-problems. Just look at all the threads. As it seems Okami does support gamepads only through the Steam gamepad-tool, but not by itself. Could be some kind of Anti-Piracy measure; maybe even if you crack the game you can´t use gamepads, because they need to be recognized by Steam. Of course that´s only the case if the pirated copy really can´t be played with a pad.

I have seen several people say that they had no problem. You don't even have the game. Obviously if the game supports the Steam driver which is just a controller driver it also supports the Microsoft one. They are both just using the WIndows API. So in the end I believe your going to find out that its just a bunch of people who are using Playstation controllers which Windows doesn't support natively in the first place.

I don't see the problem with using Xpadder. That's been around a lot longer than Steam.
This would be a poor anti-piracy measure.

I don´t need to own the game to see many threads with the same problem; people with XBox 360 Pads-wired and wireless-, XBox One Pads, XBox Elite Pads, PS3 and PS4 Pads; if there are that many complains about compatibility issues with the standard pads since almost a decade, then I assume there´s something wrong.

Doesn´t XPadder simply let you emulate a mouse and keyboard with a pad ? If so thats a tad bit different than having native gamepad support; for example no analog movement controls, or the right stick feels somewhat clunky because it´s simply emulating mouse-movement.

Besides whats the difference. Its a controller driver. Just like the XBOx driver that windows installs. No difference at all if your using the Steam driver or the Microsoft driver..Exactly the same thing. There is no such thing as native controller support in a game. They are supported through the Operating Systems API. XBox games have controller support through the XBox API. Playstation games have controller support hrough the Playstation API. Even if the game is totally supported by the Steam driver. It is still has FULL controller support.

Game>API>OS>Driver layer.

you don't even own the game so why should anyone disregard all the people who bought it and are reporting problems with an Xbox controller?

what problem are you referring to...
darksoul Dec 12, 2017 @ 7:54pm
Fact is, Okami has problems recognizing even the gamepads that are standard for many many years; the reasons for this can only be speculated about. I wouldn´t be surprised if it would have infact have something to do with the game itself and its controller-implementation.

Which is what exactly. Seems to me people are complaining because they have to use the Steam controller driver. How exactly is that a problem.

Just to throw that in, I posted this thread after having tried to play this game with an xbox360 controller.

I'm using a dualshock 4 and it's working perfectly fine. The game even actually detects I'm using one and shows a display of it with controls in the options.
