Controls
I never played this game but It’s been compare to Zelda. How are the controls? Is there a focus targeting? Like a hold a key to keep on target?

The combat system is a lot different to Zelda.

A bit late to the party but I find the controls to be very annoying. It doesn't make the game unplayable, but I'm looking into getting a controller so make it smoother to play. It is annoying because the game requires mouse (camera control), C (camera), WASD (movement), backspace (exit menu options), enter (enter menu options), shift (dodge), control (brush strokes), and space (jump) and I find my hands to be too far spread out to quickly do things which makes for frusturating combat.

It's an old post, but oh well.

It's different. There's no z-targeting and other moves associated to it such as slash attack, sideflip, backflip, crouch attack and many more. Let's say that amaterasu (the protagonist) is different than wolf link, and much more versatile (she can jump easily while wolf link can't without midna).

Combat isn't in open space like zelda, but in an small area whenever amaterasu touch a demon scroll. You can still escape from the battle though. It's best that you see some gameplay as my explanation might be a bit unclear.

Targeting is actually quite easy, as 1) weapons have big range and 2) amaterasu actually automatically targets to nearby enemies.

For controls, I definitely recommend that your mouse has extra buttons (macros) atleast three. This game is meant to be played on a controller originally, as such it can be awkward in pc.

I recommend binding enter, backspace, fleetfoot, brush, reset camera and sub weapon to mouse, the default bindings is uncomfortable as hell.

As why people associating this to zelda, it's because the gameplay in general is similar to zelda, like dungeons, items (brush techniques), 20 hearts maximum, some heart containers (sun fragments) and many more. However this game is more focused to the overworld than the dungeons, unlike zelda pre-botw.

Thanks for the reply, now I know I might be able to play it. Due to a disability I play my game on pc with a ps3 real arcade pro v3 sa “kai”. I usually reconfigure the joystick as WASD and the 9 buttons as action keys. If the controls is not to complicated like no toggle option ,only a hold, I get by well enough. Thanks again for the feed back it’s really appreciated!

Yeah, basically the controls are a bit simpler than zelda.
So are you going to use that with a mouse? Keep in mind that using the brush requires you to hold atleast two buttons: one for activating the brush, and one for drawing. Hope those won't gonna cause you troubles then.

Yes I’ll use the mouse too. The brush activation key will be one of the button on the controller and I’ll then switch to the mouse (i can push the left mouse click ) to paint.
