Gila bite is a death sentence
I've been getting back into Saurian and it's been really fun! I'm enjoying a lot of the newer features. Buuuuuut... (3:26)

I feel like if you die in a game, it should be because of some mistake on your part. Not because of a ninja gila monster who comes surging out of the water and poisons you with no chance of survival. Later in the video I intentionally got poisoned by one, and despite keeping both food and water full, still died (as a second-stage raptor). I just... I can understand that for a baby. But I feel like by this age, you should be able to at least survive if you follow the game's instructions and keep hunger/thirst full. Maybe with minimal health remaining, but even so-- it shouldn't be an inevitable death imo. You should have a chance to evade it...
also I get the sense the gilas aren't supposed to come flying out of the water like that haha. That was a tad buggy :P

They are called Palaeosaniwa, and yeah their bite is glitched so it won't go away unless you relaod the save.

That vid is obviously made by a new person ;)

Yeah man you're better off waiting until you're full grown.

Paleosaniwa (Although because it's 10x easier to type out I don't blame you for calling them GIlas) venom tends to be way less potent as an adult, like, it's not a roll of dice whether or not the venom will kill you.

I had a feeling that might be the case, but it'd be nice if the venom wasn't an instant kill even as you're young haha XD Especially on the lowest difficulty. Maybe for a baby, but the goal as a baby is basically to run from everything. Once you reach the second stage it'd be nice to at least survive, even if severely injured, because these things can sneak up on you. But I'm glad it's not always "lol enjoy dying now" :P

You aren't meant to be able to survive the bite of a Palaeosaniwa as a hatchling or juvenile Dakotaraptor. You are too small to have a chance of surviving to it's venom. Several species of modern Varananoids use venemous bites to tackle prey and as a deffensive weapon. For instance a Gila Monster poison while rarelly fatal can be extremelly painfull for an adult human and Komodo dragons are able to overcome even water buffalos that weight 10 times as much as they do through the use of their jaws and venom (although they prefer to prey on deer, boars and goats).

Palaeosaniwa was a lot larger than a Gila Monster, so it would most likely had produced a higher ammount of venom per bite, of course it's impossible to estimate how powerfull said venom was (we aren't still completelly sure it had it, but given it's phylogenetic position lays deeply nested within a group of lizards with venomous bites it is a lot more likely than it had venom than it didn't), but it really is not far fetched to think that it would be lethal for a chicken-to-larger-than-a-turkey animal.

Exactly. Plus, like I said, it's bugged so it never wears off until you reload. Once you get sub-adult, you're just fine hunting them.
