Playable Without VR?

Is this game playable without a VR setup? Usually, if a game REQUIRES VR, Steam indicates that on the game's Store page. There is no notice to that effect for I Expect You To Die. Thanks in advance for any clarification you can provide.

No it requires a VR setup, either Vive, Steam or Oculus.

Thank you @HYPERED1. The usual Steam 'VR Required' notice is missing from this game's Store page, but I do see that "Requires VR Headset" does appear in the game's 'System Requirements.' Thanks for your response.

Hmmmm... yes, true, but since it is playable with a keyboard, it may be possible to set it up on VR but yet play on the desktop alone? Still, the headset must be needed to control screen /visual tracking although perhaps a mouse could substitute? We have a couple of VR setups here and will likely get the game at some point because it looks awesome. We'd love to be able to play it on the desktop as non VR so we can easily jump into it without having to bother making certain everything is charged and so that two of us can trade off playing/watching without the bother of headset on/off, etc.

Once we do get it, I'll update!

Thanks for the reply @Arrakis Spice Co. When I first came across I Expect You To Die I was intrigued with it. I did not realize that it was to be a VR-only game. It seemed to me that it could be playable in either VR or standard Desktop KB/M mode. Kinda bummed to discover the "VR Required" spec on its Store page.

I'll look forward to your experience if/when you get the game and update your post. It would be interesting to find out if anyone else has tried the game as non-VR and can offer their insight into how, or if, it is playable.

One interesting thing is that at the end of the "ABOUT THIS GAME" section on the Store page for I Expect You To Die 2 there is a box for I Expect You To Die wherein it is indicated only as "VR Supported". I Expect You To Die 2 it appears, however, will be VR-Only.

Even if you were able to mod it to run without a VR headset, there are some tasks which require both hands. As an example, (spoilers for level 3) pulling the pin out of the fire extinguisher, and holding the bottle while operating the fuel valve.
Unfortunately a VR headset and controllers are necessary for this game. It's a shame, because it's a great game and it would be amazing if it were available to more people.
