Question concerning switching in support characters

So you have a party of 3 characters, 2 of which you can swap between with a button press, right?

So if I want to use my 3rd party member, do I really have to go into the menu, swap that person with one of the two active characters, and exit back out every single time? I really hope I'm missing something, because it's annoying to have to constantly stop fighting to swap in a character with a superior element, only for the following enemy to be weak against the character I just put into my support slot like 5 seconds ago...

It wouldn't be a problem if the game didn't reward you for using a superior element to kill enemies.

I'm really hoping there's something I've missed that makes swapping between the 3 characters a lot faster. Can anyone help me out?

you have a separate button for switching to the one in reserve, forget what it is though, look at the help notes within the game

I've... just realised what the problem is...

I had switch partner and switch support binded to the same button....
