Current port problems I have noticed
This issue is most noticeable in Main Menu, where it seems to happen no matter which resolution I set. It also appears to happen in-game, although there instead of failed stretching there are just black borders depending on the resolution. Considering previous XSEED releases spoiled me by not having anything like this, I hope something can be done about it:

Oh, and also you actually can't use mouse in the menus at all. Even if you try mapping left mouse button click as the Confirm button. I hope something can be done about it as well

This is happening to me too. Can't go fullscreen either.

Worst problem so far:With keyboard I can dodge diagonally into every direction except bottom left. Does not work no matter how hard I try. I remapped my dodge button to Z btw

Yeah the resolution is all messed up. The cut off is even worse for me in fullscreen, you can't even see half of the text in the main menu. Probably gonna have to play it in borderless or windowed because Fullscreen is unplayable like this.

EDIT: Borderless and Windowed are even worse. No matter what resolution I try there is stuff cut off. What the hell man..

Seems I got lucky with the port, played for two hours and no problems so far, even alt-tab is working with fullscreen, the only minor complaint is the mouse pointer still showing up, even though I'm using a Xbox controller, so I need to move the cursor to the corner of the screen.

Is just me or are the default Xbox controls mapped to something different than the game is telling you? The game says A is attack and B is dash, but by default mine was X for attack, B for dash.

So is the port kinda crappy? There seem to be a lot of bugs and problems from looking at this forum. I'm still on the fence about buying this game even though I'm very interested.

XSEED seem very confident in their port:

Q: Is Durante porting this game?

A: No, he’s not. Nor is this a port from our regular programming guru, Sara. Due to the recent increase in the volume of PC titles we’ve been releasing, we’ve been forced to branch out and find new sources of programming wizardry to work with – and just as we’re very careful when selecting localization contractors to work with, we try to be very selective about whom we entrust with our partners’ code.

Since the particular group we’re working with for Ys SEVEN hasn’t yet come out and spoken of their involvement, we’ll respect their privacy and not name any names (you’ll be able to find out who it was soon enough when the game releases), but we will say this: these guys are GOOD. It’s a Japanese company that’s done extensive work on PC and console games alike, and they take a lot of pride in what they do.

Having never worked with this company before, we were initially wary (as we always are when working with somebody new for the first time), but they almost immediately proved themselves a true force to be reckoned with. The very first build of the game they sent us was basically a 100% playable port of the Japanese game from PSP to PC, complete with upscaled HD visuals and a 60 fps framerate. It looked great, played great, and ran perfectly on every one of our PCs. Plus, it was delivered to us much, much sooner than we expected.

And this was just a quick and dirty proof-of-concept build!

So if you’re worried about how the game will run on your system, or whether the port will even be any good… don’t be. These guys (who are apparently pretty big fans of the Ys series to begin with) clearly know their stuff, and have been an absolute joy to work with. We hope to employ their services again on future PC projects, and we hope you guys enjoy the fruits of their labor come August 30th.

Source and an interesting read if you're a fan[www.xseedgames.com]

Yes it's crappy. It's not the worst port ever, it's still playable, but it's not even close to recent Falcom's Trails of Cold Steel port.

The work Durante did with ToCS set the bar really high when it comes to port quality, it's almost unfair to compair this port with ToCS lol. But yeah, since quite a lot of people are reporting bugs, let's see how long until they release the patches.

Who is the company that ported this?

Question to those that already bought the game, have you been able to find any clues in the game (files)? Referring to this part of the quote:

Hopefully Xseed is facilitating communication with this Japanese studio so they are aware of, and able to work on, solutions. It sounds like typical teething troubles at the moment that Xseed often has in the first couple of weeks (was the same of ToTS:FC and Oath). Fortunately Xseed take a long-term view over their products so I feel confident they won't just up and abandon the game.

The gameplay imo is so spectacular I'm not getting the complaints. Everything is so tight and much more visible now I am beating bosses on Nightmare much more easily than I would be otherwise.

My only real complaint is the broken text formatting.

7 hours in and I'm suddenly getting massive stuttering/freezing issues out of nowhere. Game run smooth as butter up until this point, now everytime I launch the game it starts chugging like crazy after about 5 minutes. No idea what's causing it. Resolution still ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up.
