How do I unlock nations

Just got the game and was wondering how to unlock new nations? The game doesn't exactly highlight how to unlock nations just that they're locked

I'm stuck right there with you. I don't know how to unlock Mexico, UK, Ukraine, Pakistan.

I found out how but in my opinion mobile version is better.

You need to look at the game's achievements and the ones like "unlock [country]" will have a description telling you what to do

In the achievements list you can see what needs to be done to unlock most nations: https://steamcommunity.com/stats/587000/achievements

Kazakhstan gets unlocked by subscribing to the newsletter in the game.

Regarding Mexico, UK, Ukraine, Pakistan: those are mobile exclusive superpowers (that you get as a in-game-purchase or in the Nuclear Club subscription). In the PC version those superpowers are not available.
