Click on gem but doesn't ever register the click... Can't advance in game. Any ideas?

First case, after talking to the ghost. I entered my office and then I couldnt click anywhere anymore. I checked some walkthroughs and I never got the call after having fully investigated everything

I'm in the lab where the mechanical spiders are made & in the hidden object scene there is ONE item left which is an harmonica...it's right there in the box but I'm unable to collect it! Therefore I'm unable to progress in this game which is hugely irritating!...

I seem to be an issue where the game loved to crash a bout 50% of the time I try to enter my office at the police station. Is anyone else experincing this?

Anyone had this problem. I also get a message that if i exit it wont save. When I went back all was saved but now I cant even start.
