I had detailed instructions here for OpenVRDesktopDisplayPortal[github.com], OVRdrop’s predecessor. Most of the UI layout is still the same, although I’ll definitely have to make a new guide soon — I’m holding out until after the new systems are ready as I’m planning to give OVRdrop a facelift and as I’m the only developer it’s wasted time spent writing up guides for systems which will soon be deprecated.
OVRdrop also has an FAQ over here[github.com] which goes over the basics. There are also Beta builds available here[github.com], though some of the newer features may contain breaking bugs (please report them!).
You can also normally grab and ‘stretch’ the Overlay, but that still only works for ‘World’ overlays right now. Controller attached overlays are using a different set of algorithms and I was having issues with the matrices involved until recently.
