input problem
So, I've been playing this for a couple of days, and at first it seemed like my stick worked fine with it, but I have serious trouble pulling off some of the most basic special moves with any consistency.

For the record, yes, I suck at these games... but a quarter circle motion isn't exactly hard to do. Neither is hitting two buttons at once for EX. Sometimes, an EX or even normal tatsu just doesn't happen. I tried using Chun-li in the practice mode of 3S and couldn't even get a single one of her moves off.

Anybody else having these issues? I'm using a generic board for my stick, and Steam to map the buttons. Could that be the issue?

Chuns fireball in 3rd Strike is a charge move, so that might explain your problem. check out the move list in the options menu in training.
I mainly play Ken though, and Tatsu's and fireballs are about the simplest special move inputs around, DP isn't much harder, but sometimes a tatsu takes 3-4 tries to get it to read the inputs correctly.
I've noticed this as well. Sometimes the diag just stops working alltogether.
Really weird. had a few times as well where the directions outright stop and I can only press buttons. Seems this has happend to a few folk on Mayflash.

Really hope they patch it.

You can go to training mode, enable input display, and see what the game is registering.

It doesn't seem to be the inputs. I don't know what it is. A hadoken isn't that hard to do. I've played SFIII a few times elsewhere and do not recall having any troubles making hadokens happen.

What are we supposed to learn from that screenshot? You may have done it too slow or done second hado before the first one was completely gone.
the hado only came out on the second input, so it wasn't that. Yeah, I can't show my timings in a screenshot. I can tell you they were performed roughly the same way.

Now, you're right, in that part of the problem is invariably my execution. I'd say even half or more of the problem itself. But I have a lot less of this problem on fightcade, for example. Maybe that's placebo, maybe it isn't, that's why I was asking if anyone else noticed it.

I'd test some more... but in my quest to determine my issue I wanted to reset Steams controller configuration. In attempting to do so I completely broke controllers in steam. Like, they don't work at all properly. So I don't really know what I'mma do about it yet.
