I happen to frequent Fightcade often. It is where some pro players compete. There is a big update coming to the app in FC2 adding Snes games, Genesis, and more arcade games as well as reducing the input delay.

To answer the question, both.
you're going to get fightcade shut down i guarantee it.

Trying to figure out the point of this post.

1. It's not outright illegal to own ROMs. The burden is on Crapcom to prove that *your* ROM version is illegal. So, Crapcom literally has to target each individual directly.

2. FightCade does not provide ROMs. It only provides a networking backend to allow online multiplayer. There is 100% nothing illegal about that.

What's going to end up happening is FC having better netcode than Crapcom and people playing over there instead, and there's not a single thing legally that Crapcom will do about it.

antagonizing capcom isn't smart. emulation has been shut down before. it's a gray area at best.

>>>ROM sites have been shut down.<<< There is absolutely NOTHING about FC that can cause it to get shut down since it is not providin any copyrighted material nor is it facilitating the transfer of copyrighted material. There is absolutely no grey zone with FC. It is 100% legal. It is exactly the same as emulation software that has existed for decades, like ZSNES, Snes9x, MAME, FB Alpha etc. All of these emulators are 100% legal.

If it's a worse online experience than Fightcade then this game will be irrelevant. Right now we know that it doesn't have GGPO netcode, so it's already not looking good for the 30th collection. If the emulation is more arcade accurate than FBA(Fightcade's emulator), then maybe that would make up the difference, but aside from running a tad bit faster, Fightcade is pretty accurate for 3rd Strike(the most popular SF game on Fightcade).

When it comes to the install base, this game will only increase awareness of Fightcade, especially if it is inferior. And Fightcade is free to download, and roms are easy to find. If someone only wants 1 or 2 games, then Fightcade is no doubt the better value. And let's not forget that Fightcade currently supports hundreds of games, and the Fightcade 2 beta supports thousands.

Then there are other things, like arcade stick and controller support. Fightcade does a pretty good job of that, so Capcom has to do a good job too.

That's not to say this doesn't have anything going for it. It will have training mode and ranked matches built in. FC2 has some sort of rank too, but no matchmaking, and the FC2 beta looks to be far from it's full release and presently sucks. And this game exists for people who are hung up on downloading roms and playing unofficial emulators. But really, if you're actually hardcore into any of these games, then you probably would want to put that aside and just play whichever version is best on PC.

My opinion is that I prefer how Fightcade works and would much rather see people playing on it. It works great and the lobby system is very entertaining and a great way for people to talk about the games and get assistance. imo forums aren't as enjoyable as having a real-time conversation.

I can guarantee you that playing street fighter here will be much more comfortable than in fightcade, the fact that everything is in a single package and with better presentation, plus extra content and things like leaderboards, achievements etc., makes it the best option.

The difference in the online will be the level, the beginners will suffer before the experts of the Fightcade, will be funny.

It's actually not illegal to own ROMs if you have the actual cartridge or arcade version yourself.

1. I once ran a website that let players play NES games I owned via Java emulator.. to keep it legal all I had to do was take a photo of the cartridge with the website address on a bit of paper next to it and show it on a static page.. it's no different than me letting you come to my house and play my owned copy of Super Mario Bros. You will win in court this way if they tried.

2. Yep.

Tempted to buy on steam as well, let me check the price... I already put enough money in this game and feel I have right to play FightCade. I'm 37 and used to play in arcade for 10p a go when I was 11 and carried on playing all the way until now.. there will be more n00bs on Steam, maybe fun to kill them fast and with perfects... best players on Japanese version of SFIIT/FightCade.

Fightcade is pretty much okay for anything that isn't a CPS3 game in regards to the Street Fighter series. Unfortunately, this means any 3rd Strike game will suffer some game breaking issues due to running emulated of said board.

FC1 causes persistent black lines, bars, etc. to display on the screen after the first match has concluded in 3rd Strike. It's also at some risk of de-syncs.

FC2 has the visual bugs fixed, but often results in de-synced matches. This happens much more frequently than FC1.

This 30th Anniversary collection is pretty solid in terms of netcode from my experience, and I haven't yet experienced a de-sync in any of the online matches I've played. I think I can say for certain that this is the most stable way of playing 3rd Strike online via PC.
