Super Turbo: Is Blanka's grab supposed to do 100% damage?
I was just doing a casual playthrough of Super Turbo's arcade with Vega, when Blanka latched on to me and I just watch my life melt away.
I know arcades wanted your quarters and didn't give a crap if you beat them or not, but wow.
Edit: Just in case anyone thought I was complaining about the game or just really salty, I'm not, I just thought it was hilarious in how absurd it was.

Good luck

I made it through Blanka and now I'm at the four bosses, and wow. the difficulty spike is insane. The only way I am able to beat any of these CPUs is if I use a save state every time I manage to land a single hit. I am on difficulty 1 by the way.
Just as a side note, if you and a computer perform the same attack at the same time, the computer will always have priority. I observed this while fighting the CPU Vega vs my Vega and the izuna drop performed at the same time always favors CPU.

Update:
I finally did it. Not only did I beat arcade mode, but I also encountered and beat Akuma. Thanks to the power of save states and Izuna drops. The view at the credits feels pretty good. Vega's ending theme is fantastic.
Never give up on your dreams.

the AI is very broken in this collection, Super Turbo was never this cheap in the arcades, actually it was the easiest of all the street fighters, Super Turbo also feels off like not as smooth as it was in arcades and controlls feel clunky.

source: I played the ♥♥♥♥ out of all versions of SFII through out highschool..

My previous experience with Street Fighter 2 was Turbo on SNES, and I remember that game having a fairly tough AI. That being said, yes I agree, the AI in this collection, especially the SF2 games, feels ungodly unfair.

I'm not sure which one it was, but I had blocked Chun-Li doing her lightning kick, and noticed how it still took a significant portion off of my health bar. It moved down slower than usual, not instant like a direct hit, that's why it caught my eye. But, maybe that's normal. Fair? I wouldn't say it is. But I guess that's how the computer compensates for fighting a human. Input reading and all.

One observation I had during my playthrough was that on wakeup, the computer was able to use light attacks repeatedly at speeds impossible for players to achieve. A human player could not press light attacks so rapidly because the recovery frames limit the speed, but here comes the computer AI and his machine-gun arms just having a seizure, and takin' names.

You're supposed to mash out of grabs. If you don't push any buttons, you're going to take more damage. And those lights are chainable lights so you cancel them into each other. A person can press buttons fast enough to do that.

there is chip damage in the game and I as far as I know all characters can chain light attacks into each other. so the AI is not doing something, that isn't possible with the game mechanics.

Okay, I get the idea now. When I tried to see if I could use light attacks as fast as the cpu I just wasn't able to pull it off. I guess there is something to it I haven't gotten the hang of.

It depends on what character as well, not every light for every character is chainable.

You couldnt be more mistaken. SSF2T has an excruciating difficult level. The american version, at least. The japanese version (Grand Master Challenge) is a biit toned down, though.

But don´t take my words as proof. Download the arcade rom and a decent cps-2 emulator (i suggest Final Burn Advance) and see for yourself. Then come back and tell us about your experience.

The AI in super turbo flat out cheats. It does impossible combos, more damage than normal, and perfect reactions sometimes. No doubt about it that it cheats a lot.
