How do we change costume colors?

I know it's possible to have different costume colors in 3rd Strike (not sure about the other games though). However, regardless of which controller button I press there's no "color selection" at any point. So how do we do it?

Changes depending on which button you pressed to select the character.

You select your colour using any of the 6 buttons and/or combination like button+start on some games. (also there is the lp mk hp code in sf3)

so this is based off the cp system III jamma (cps-3) as you can tell from the menu. IIRC they didn't have that functionality in the version of the rom they used for this game
