Also, Melty Blood Type Lumina has controversial system mechanics that many don't like, so for some of those people, this game is the next best choice that has official rollback netcode.
Who cares how old it is. It's about whether or not it is fun. People still play really old games.
Figure it out :P
While the input method for MBTL's auto combo is definitely bad, that's completely different from claiming that 'you can't create new combos' because of it; I actually feel more confident in doing varied combos in a match with DA Noel than with anyone in BBCF other than Mai (though I think the only other characters I've put a decent amount of time into since rollback were Es and Lambda).
Giant red android with magnetic powers?
Professor Layton's estranged son, accompanied by a somber animatronic?
Gothic vampire child with an entourage of familiars?
Yes, yes, and yes please!
It is not my intent to disparage MB or its fans, as I know its cast is rich with depth and backstory. But the surface level matters to me, and on the surface, the majority of Melty's characters strike me as generic and uninteresting. I don't want to battle as - or against - most of them.
Girl in T-shirt and jeans?
Multiple dudes in plain school uniforms?
The reincarnation of King Arthur?
No thanks, no thanks, and oh... not bad!
There are other aspects that differentiate the games, and many reasons to like one or the other. But just because one is "old" isn't enough to disregard everything else.
people still play ds2 and ds3 and thats old
reason why I play this over tl? TL forces autocombos, which doesnt really allow me to be creative with the autocombo compared to say, persona 4 arena where I can jump and immediately get my brain working and do whatever feels right.
TL also has a super, SUPER strong shield. Like legit, I play og melty and shield wasnt this strong. yes, I know, I should get with the times, og melty was 2009, but still it at least felt more of a parry button, which was super fun to use.
It does have the same melty "Air neutral", same fun old characters, but the autocombo and shield kinda throw it off for me
Bbcf is just a solid ass game i dont care what people say if its old, I dont care if no one plays it, I dont care if i get beat 24/7, I'm having a blast. Yes, keyboard players have a harder time doing 41236. yes, its got a very high learning curve. Yes, it doesnt have piss arakune nor Takemikazuchi fight, but it's still a solid game. Its also got abyss mode which is hella fun. And with improvement mod you can make your own colors its nice.
tldr: autocombos and weird shield in tl, i prefer aacc or uniclr, and bbcf is a fun game
