Is that even possible to play this game without checking dustloop on every loading screen for a beginner?
Every fking time the opponent gets to act its pretty much over. No matter if its blockstring or oki after combo, its just an infinite series of knowledge checks and guessing games that you just lose by default if you don't know at least that there is an rps in the first place. Oh, you air teched? Its a trap, get thrown out of it. Burst? Burst safe route. Delayed roll? Whatever, just step back and you are still trapped in the corner. Even if you more or less figure out opponent's kit and what to do against them in neutral, you only have around 5-10 matches, because apparently every blazblue player has a guy with a gun nearby that forces them to change character all the time. My first match vs amane was with guy who had 4720 matches on him, and it wasn't even his main. I still drop my bnbs half of the time, wtf am i even supposed to do

Its just a rant, not a serious complain

Yes?
I realize it's a rant and not your objective evaluation of the game, but bear in mind new players might drop in and see just your topic.

Given your grievances and terminology I assume you're not a novice when it comes to fighting games; still it sounds to me you're trying to run before you can walk. Online play is always highly volatile. This applies to most games in most genres, but probably felt more in fighting games. Regardless of experience in other games, there will always be an acclimation period. Playing against stronger players who intentionally do ambiguous stuff, and switches up their character frequently will definitely make it all the more insufferable.

After checking your profile I'm pretty sure "you can walk" with 50h into the game and hundreds in others ;))). So yeah, BB is a game full off cheap tricks and knowledge checks. Experience will probably help way more than dustloop, and that would go for a true beginner as well 'til they reach a certain level.

I have like 500 hours and I'm still trash at this game, so don't think too much about it. After all this is a very old game, so many active players are veterans, but you can always find people around your skill level. Plus occasionally winning against people with thousands of hours feel pretty good.

BB has been described to me as a game where living in training mode to be able to pull off combos is alot of the game.......for me i find that hard and just go into pvp and learn by failure and im still managing to get better......slowly XD

It's an old game so there's going to be plenty of people who have been playing it far longer than you. This shouldn't push you away, you can get where they are with the same dedication.

As for checking the wiki for every matchup, just don't. It's better if you just take note of which characters do what when you're starting out. Once you get a better understanding of the game, then you'll need the specifics on each character, but even then it's going to be for niche cases where you want to know how much startup or invuln something has so you can learn how to bait it or work around it.

Fighting games are a genre that demands dedication/practice. It's the #1 reason people walk away from the genre, because other genres offer cheaper stimulation for far less effort. I don't want to throw shade on your ability to practice, but people are beating you because they put in the time and work to get where they are. If you wanna win, you gotta do the same, no shortcuts about it.

edit: you've got around 300 hours in strive so I guess you didn't need me to tell you any of that. But still, it's a good reminder to keep you humble. Just keep at it, BBCF is one of the harder fighting games imo, people downplay its difficulty a lot but there is a LOT to remember. But, that also makes it one of the most rewarding journeys you can take in this genre.

I don't bother with the wiki either. Just try stuff. It's the same with every fighting game. Everything can be beaten by a button or waiting. Toss out random jabs and anti-airs. See if you can counter pressure with a random 6C or whatever. Keep trying stuff until you find something that works.

Spending time in the corner getting combo'd is just part of BB. I understand it's frustrating to wait that long for a turn but it is what it is. Take your licks and get better. I lose probably 75% of matches I play online just because I haven't played certain characters that much. But then I play offline and have 90+% win rates.

As always the best way to learn how to beat a character is to go into training mode and play with them.

BBCF is fun because it isn't like most other modern fighting games. It hasn't been dumbed down where it's auto-combos and system mechanics. It has a large cast of characters. As a result there is A LOT to learn. I've been playing BB games since the early 2010s and I'm still learning new stuff everyday.

Oh and keep in mind a lot of the higher ranked players online suffered through the pre-rollback days when you have to know someone IRL to get decent matches. So a lot of the vets are familiar with real tournament play and have taken a lot of Ls. That guy with 4,000+ wins probably has 10,000+ loses. Hence why he's better than you.
