♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ just gives fans the middle finger and basicakky when anyone asks/says anything about being screwed over they get treated badly
so get BlazBlue: Chronophantasma Extend as its the better game but to be honest with u i think most MUGEN fighting games these days are better
If you want to play the game in any form of Multiplayer, CF is better.
It's also the newest version, with more characters.
Don't be a ♥♥♥♥ and give only biased info.
OP:
Centralfiction(CF) is the newest game, and the one the community still plays. It is somewhat similar in gameplay to Chronophantasma Extend(CPE), you could think of it as being one HUGE update, however as it's the new installment, it has 8 new characters(1 of them being DLC, Jubei), general balance update, new moves, etc.
In terms of story, CPE is the 3rd game in the series, while CF is the 4th and at least so far the last. CPE has a short summary of the first 2 games, but personally I think those parts were the best in the story, so the short summary that simply quickly tells you the major events is nothing like actually playing it. If you're primarily interested in the story and offline features, you can actually get the first 3 games, Calamity Trigger, Continuum Shift Extend AND Chronophantasma Extend for the price of Centralfiction.
If I PERSONALLY had to choose which games to get for the story in retrospect after having played them, I would get Calamity Trigger and Continuum Shift Extend(obviously that has the drawback of only having half of the final cast of CF).
If you're interested in learning to play the fighting game proper, CF is the way to go.
That being said, Central Fiction is the latest version, with significant character and system changes as well as additional characters (Izanami, Nine, Hibiki, Es, Naoto, Susano'o, Mai, and Jubei). It also has 3 different arcade ladders for most characters, which I find adds a lot of replayability than any of the other modes it lost, but that's just me. It also has the longest story mode of any of the games and is the actual end of the story (but that may mean less to you if you never played the old games). So basically, Central Fiction is more barebones than CPEX, but it has the best gameplay in the series.
If you are interested in any kind of competition, than Central Fiction is the way to go. If you just want to try out a game in the series because they are on sale than Chronophantasma Extend might be a bigger bang for your buck. And if you are just playing casually then a lot of the mechanical changes from CPEX to CF won't matter that much.
Edit since people are talking about the old games: There is literally no reason to every buy Calamity Trigger unless you just want to collect all the games. The story from CT is retold much better in Continuum Shift.
From what you're saying you should probably buy Chronophantasma Extend, and if you really want to get into the story you should grab Continuum Shift Extend as well. It's also on sale so if you can spare an extra $4 it's definitely the best place to start the story stuff.
It is the latest Blazblue game and tries to recap the whole story.
It's nice to play and probably will find more people playing it compare to the previous Blazblue.
Not quite.
CT and CSE complete the first arc of the story, which is what gets heavily condensed as a short 20 minute long summary in CPE(from the likely 10-20 hours actually playing through CT+CSE would take)
CSE also has a somewhat condensed summary of CT, but it's not as heavily trimmed as in CPE.
Slight spoilers, the story deals with some time travel and alternate realities, and the summaries in later games always cut all the events that didn't lead to the next game's story, so overall it detracts a lot from it's enjoyment.
If you can, the absolute best course of action is to play through all the story modes in order. CT>CSE>CPE>CF
The next best thing is playing CSE, since the CT story isn't as badly cut in that summary, and the CT+CSE arc is the better half of the story anyway.
CPE has more content and is newer, but it's story is left on a huge cliffhanger(cue CF), and imo the best part of the story - the first arc - got condensed into an unenjoyable short prelude.
