Why make such a incomprehensible plot?
Hi all,

Grabbed the four games last year on sale on a whim.

Played through the first two, had a great time. The second of the games (CS) was particularly great. Loved the characters and manged to stumble through the story.

Excitedly started the third (CP) and felt kinda like I was hitting a brick wall; all the plot points that I didnt understand were back in full force now and the individual character stories were gone. Tried three times to get into it.

Finally skipped a head to Central fiction. Even with the recap (which I didn't even find that helpful), the plot still is super dense for me. It feels so wrapped up in obscure lore that it never bothered to clarify, I haven't been able to get into it as well. It feels like even with diving into online overviews and supplemental material, the plot is just too Byzantine for me.

So my question is why make such a dense and confusing plot? I don't watch much anime, is it a style to make it so? Was it multiple changes of script writers? Or just accidental?

I just feel they went in hard to make it as incomprehensible as possible.

Or perhaps I am alone in these sentiments.

Oh I can relate man.
Even after playing the games I still don't understand basic concepts about how the world works and the order of some events.
If I try to look some of these questions up I get impenetrable wiki pages full of information that I can honestly say I have no idea where they're drawing from because I don't remember anything like that being explained.

I really really like alot of parts as 'ideas', but I find the story as a whole completely incomprehensible.

You're definitely not alone. I "played" through the story of CF and I think CP and tried going to the wiki to understand the lore and I still have no idea what the heck is going on half of the time with all of the wacky jargon. I know bits and pieces but that's it. The important part to me is that it's a sick af fighting game.

Pssh apparently you guys don't know how to pay attention. The story is totally simple and not convoluted at all! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q-kT1RteLHg

Joking aside yeah I stopped caring about the story after CS...

It's pretty awful. It's one thing to make an interesting story but it's another to make in intentionally convoluted. The same plague fell on Guilty Gear after Xrd (when it all went downhill) with the introduction of computer gods from another dimension. Before that it was relatively fun and understandable.

I feel like the story was missing a lot of information. It's been a long time so I could be wrong but I felt like there was missing details on why certain things happened or what certain things do.
