BBCF Crash at startup after Arc Logo
Hi people,
I've got a problem with the game right now I just got it, as said in the title it it crashes after the Arc Logo, from what I've understood it's a codex problem ? I'm on Windows 10 N so that's probably the case, I don't have media player. I try downloading K-Lite but didn't work aswell, VC++ Redist 2012 Are up to date, same for DX and my graphic drivers.
I'm on NvDia GTX 1070, 16 Go Ram and I'm on Windows 10 Pro N
So I really don't know what to do, thank you for insights, hopefully it can help others with the same problem !

Yea I did do the installation of DX9 and even that didn't really change anything.
The arc logo pops up, the app doesn't answer then crashes. I'm sure this is because the fact that it cannot read for the .wmv file for the bbcfcs_opening (probably the rest aswell tho), I'm sure I've got the necessary codec for it since VLC and MPC the reader install by K-Lite can read them.
Maybe there is some file in the game where I can auto-skip them or something ? (From what I've gather not at all but who knows). Or another way to fix it.... Wanna play this game so so bad, I know my computer can run it easily, I'm just kinda mad not finding what happening and on top of that hopefully helping more people.
Thank you for your answer tho !

You're lacking video codec.
Please install K-lite and make sure all video format are supported during the installation.

Someone once said the same even though they installed the K-lite.
If you didn't tick off the video format it won't change anything

There is a good chance that is it, now question is which option do I need to make sure to tick off or at least what is the name of the codec that I need to get. I made sure ticking off everything especially the Windows Media Video And Audio (LAV for both) but I'm probably wrong somewhere .. Would me infinitely nice if you could show me exactely how to do it and what to tick off so my game could work ;w;
Being close of a solution but not getting it is frustrating :D but at least I'm sure where the probleme is ..
Thank for your answer by the way !

I use 2 codec,
K lite and CCCP

I am not sure where it goes wrong.

After the arc sys logo is followed by the opening movie. So maybe that is the issue.

Check and see if your computer is able to run the opening video "bbcfcs_opening.wmv" with a media player. It is located in the "/blazblue centralfiction/data/movie" directory. Care for spoilers from the other videos.

For some strange reasons even without having K-Lite and CCCP I was able to read it only with VLC installed as my player. Which might reinforce what Xaelath was saying.

On some games codec is necessary because it could cause crash on every possible movie played.
The another example i had was FF Type-0.

Also codec setting need to be checked due
- It might affect performance (Overtune the MadVR,Output,Multithreading)
- On some setting it might cause crash on specific format (Due hardware accelration)
- Video and Sound Quality (Can also turn on Surround 7.1 here)
- Format enabled to run the codec (mine was LAV Video)

How about turning on Steam Hardware video decoding?
I am not sure its that help because normally its turned on to optimize bad video performance.

I remember those kind of problems, I had this with FFXIV, to bypass that problem I use the cfg file and skip the intro scene so I never technically have the issue but there is no such thing on BBCF so I have to solve it by getting the right codec whicjh seems to be WMV2.
I activated Steam Hardware video encoding but nothing much.
For now nothing is working so far, I'm still on it though I can't get it to install the right codec that I need which annoys me slightly. Or if I have the good one I don't know how to set it up properly.

VLC uses its own stuff. While LAVfilters are for use with MPC-HC and its related plug-ins.

By default Windows 10 N version is missing media stuff due to legal reasons. But you can download a separate "Media Feature Pack" from here https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=53356

IM SO TEMPTED to just install a version a non-N version of Windows 10, coz I'm practically sure that should solve the issue but ... I tried it what you said and it said that the update does not apply to my computer and I have a windows Pro N ...
EDIT: I found another update that works but same doesn''t solve the issue. Making me just more upset.

FOUND THIS ISSUE FINALLY. You need Windows Media Player, for some reason .. The codec that I needed was there so just download it and it makes it work.
Thanks again everyone here who took their time to help me~ Hopefully this thread will be able to help others with the issue !

I believe I have the same problem, but I don't know what any of these words mean, or how to apply it as a solution.
I would be happy if someone could take the time to explain this in 'layman terms'.

Hmm to be simple so, after the arcsys logo when you launch the game there is a cinematic, if you don't have the right codec to read that video you cannot play the game. So in order to play the game, go get Windows Media Player and if you have it already, download a codec pack like CCCP or K-Lite. Hope it helps.

K-lite probably better,
CCCP is kinda unupdated,
Then make sure all video file already merged with the codec
