Is it me... or is this game just too difficult....
I bought this game 2 days ago, I have completed the first 2 missions, Mission 1 was just simply easy, then comes Mission 2 where everything just gets much harder, I managed to complete mission 2 (by looking on YT to see how other people did it) which I do not enjoy doing. Don't get me wrong, but it looks like a really good game, the units, the tanks, the everything, its just the difficulty, and I tend to use Campaign mode as a learning curve before I do Skirmishes and and multiplayer, but this hasen't got a really good learning curve for people who are new to the wargame series, I believe I have played another title made by Eugen Systems a while ago, called "RUSE" it was fun, it had a good learning curve in it, it did get harder as it went on, but it never got hard 1 mission after the beginning....

The first set of missions are just an extended tutorial. There's a bit of a difficulty "hill" you have to climb in these first missions to get past them, I recommend thinking outside of the box as things work differently than in RUSE in a number of ways.

I recently bought it too. trust me, there is a curve. the second mission is pretty easy.
I have noticed though that different strategies can make diffrent maps extremely easy. I tried 1 level about 5 times before looking up a strategy on the internet. beat it the first time after that. it basically consisted of rushing to take a few points, counter to what I would think normally.

It does get easier as you go on and get more units though. then after that it gets harder again.

Basically what ive found is that this game is VERY different from other FPSs ive played like SC2 or Total war.

What ive found is that there isn't a rock paper sizzors approach like 99% of FPS. its more like best positioning and use of weapons available wins.

So yeah. Ive been stuggling with this too. I would almost classify this as the Darksouls of RTS Campaigns.

Just to add though, Ive found skirmish and online multiplayer to be much easier, atleast after creating a deck.

Yeah, I found it weird how mission 1 was so easy.... and then that all suddenly changed at mission 2, I managed to do mission 2, once I found out enemy positions (I have a bad habit of losing my recon alot) mission 3, I haven't started yet, it looks quite easy, but I ain't gonna say that because it will backstab me, on mission 2 I just bum rushed them with all my units, it worked but by the end of the mission when I captured Charlie Sector, most of my units were lacking ammo, in need of repairs, and in need of fueling, I knew if the mission was to be any longer I would have been slaughtered.

Oh yea going crazy on difficulty as well but im finding fine points in ctrl+# for arty improved a bit but still i have issue.

And like in ruse, i wish when you deployed or moved your recon that you can see what its survalencing and its distance of sight... like the cargo trucks circle barley ever pops up so im kinda scattery with this game. ATM

This is a good guide to help you with the missions: http://guides.gamepressure.com/wargameeuropeanexcalation/guide.asp?ID=14178

TIP for Dabrowski's Mazurka:Evacuation - Use Profile and Reset your unlocked vehicles (don't worry, you get all command points back to redistribute the way you wish). Unlock only those vehicles that you need to evacuate for the next mission so that you can attain the "Evacuate more than 75% of your forces" achievement much more easily.

I'm pretty new to this game but I did some reading before buying it so I went at with an open mind. Yes, the game is difficult but from what I have seen thus far is you have to think outside of the box and not think any of the strategy you used with other games will work here. Think in 4 dimensions to look at the battlefield and opponents.

Learning is part of Playing the game, as long as you don't play against the game it's not too hard.

You mean RTS not FPS...Starcraft and total war are no first person shooters lol

I think it's too hard. I finished about 2/3 of the campaign and just hit a brick wall of diffulcty. Every unit I send in misses and every enemy unit hits... Gave up long ago.

Funny thing about my playstyle. I have readed a lot of WW2 battles and WW3 scenarios. And here in Finland every man must go to army too. (Finnish DEFENCE forces)
Devs have done many things like from real world scenarios. And vehicle balance still keeps things pretty accurate. IRL soldier group with bazookas/RPG and machine guns don't easily destroy tanks anymore like WW2. More like minery, Attack helicopters and so on and on. Nowdays tanks like Leopards has auto MG wich see crawling bazooka man about 100-200m and shoots him. How do I know? I was in (PSTK) army. Tank destroyer with RPG and bazookas. My life time was like 15 seconds according our leading stuff. Only Artillery fire control has less seconds...

Now thou these days there are new weaponry to destroy tanks more easily. Direct artillery etc. Some USA stuff: http://fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/smart/index.html

Great game!

I agree. I boughtthe newer version hoping the AI no longer cheated and instantly knew where all your units were (it didn't if anything its worse). I gave up in European Escalation after 15 tries on the last level of the first campaign. Was hugely unfair. Seems like the Russian army invading Luxembourg with ridiculous about 30-1 unit counts against you. Finally completed it and the next campaign was a timed mission and that killed it for me.

Its not fun when you have 8 tanks (hidden in a hedge) vs. two APCs in the open and the APCs knock out 3 of your tanks while your tanks take a full minute to kill them.

Started the tutorial for Dragon and instantly realized it hadnt improved. I love the idea of the game. I do not care about multiplayer at all. Just campaign

It's not too hard. It's just not the run of the mill campaign that most other games provide where but very diverse approaches are necessary and you cannot use the same one in all scenarios.

This game is the most realistic of the whole series, though. If you rather like an easier crowd pleaser try Red Dragoon.
