I am trying to cut trees but I don't have a ax. I also don't have a hammer to smash the stones . Please help

This is a part from the guide that i'm making, I assume you already met Rowan. you have to follow the main storyline to get the tools. hope it helps.

Get the Axe

After the introduction go to Jeanne's house and talk to her about the first stone tablet.
Apparently she has seen the markings before and takes you to the lighthouse.
The tablet should fit in the houles in the ground, so walk over there and place it.

Now the first light of the lighthouse will start shining after a little more conversation the day ends.
But you will have a dream again, now about a mysterious person talking about the Harvest Goddess.

In the morning as you get up, Rowan is already in the room screaming.
He tells you there is a strange person on the island and you should go check it out.

Walk into the townsquare and you will meet Sam (See Character Section for more info).
After talking to Sam a bit, you'll offer to fix his shop but you lack an Axe.
Sam wants you to go talk to Jeanne to get more information.
If you decide to go to jeanne she will tell you to find Naomi, she might have an Axe.

You can actually skip going to Jeanne and walk straight to Naomi's house which is located in the lower right corner of town.
As you approach the house a little cutscene will start, where you knock on the door.
Nobody answers and you start to walk away, then somebody calls out to you.
A little girl named Sally starts a conversation with you, she let's you know she doesn't trust you and refuses to give the axe.

After the conversation with Sally, Rowan shows up and advices you to go talk to Jeanne.

Go to jeanne's house and talk to her (she will probably outside on the road to her house), she thinks you can win Sally's trust with a bamboo shoot.
So, grab a Bamboo Shoot that grows around Jeanne's house and return to Sally.

When you're back at Sally's house get the Bamboo Shoot out of your backpack and give it her.
She accepts it and looses up a bit, but she still wants more proof that you are who you say you are.
Now she demands something grown on your farm, if you did what you had to do then you should have some cabbages that are almost ready for harvest.

if you did it right you should have full grown cabbages on day 4, Rowan will let you know that they are ready for harvest.
Harvest them and return to Sally's house.

When you talk to sally she wants to see the proof, at that moment someone else comes in, It's Sally's mom Naomi.
You hand over the cabbage to naomi and there will be a little more conversation, Naomi thanks you for the cabbage and gives you the axe

Get the Map and a broken stone tablet

Walk into the freshly opended path just north of your farm, as soon as you walk into the mountain trail you will be greeted by Naomi and Sally who are on a hike.
During this conversation she will give you a map of the island, which will come in handy a little later in the game.

Keep following the path and you will see the girl who resqued you, playing with a little Bobcat.
Her name is Nova and after a little conversation she'll be on her way again.
Rowan appears and mentions that Nova dropped something, at closer inspection it turns out to be a Stone Tablet, However this one is missing a piece.
Now head back to the lighthouse.

To get back to the lighthouse you have to cross your farm, while entering the farm you come across the guy who you have seen in your last dream.
He introduces himself as Edmond and he is a mage, he too is trying to revive the lighthouse and suggest you should work together.
After the conversation contineu your way to the lighthouse.

When you have arrived place the Broken tablet and Nova will be running into the screen.
She tells you she lost something and if you might have picked it up, then she realizes what you are trying to do and she will be ok with that because she had the same plan.
Apparently this tablet has something to do with water and fishing, so you know what is coming next, we need a fishing pole.
She asks you to keep hold of the Tablet since she would probably drop it again, and you both will be on your way.

Now it's time to get that Tablet repaired, so head back up the mountain, just follow the path and ignore the broken bridges for now.
At a certain point a cutscene will be triggered, a voice is calling you and it wants you to come towards the Hot Springs.
When you get there a rather strange person introduces himself as Doc and basicly he appoints you to be his assistant.
He will now asks you to rebuild his house, well it more sounds like he demands it, you pretty much have no choice here.
After Doc leaves Rowan shows up a little angry because you're gonna fix his house, after a little argument he understands your point and let's you get to it.
Now head over to the house and view the repair window, there is a bunch of stuff needed we can't get at the moment since alot of it comes from the mines, so our next move is to get access to the mine.

Obtaining the hammer

When you walked towards Doc you came across 2 broken bridges, the second one leading you up north is the one that needs fixing first, so get your materials and money in order and fix it.

TIP

If you need some quick money, you can always sell some lumber to Sam.
Also keep en eye out for bamboo shoots, don't sell them but eat them if you are desperate for more energy, 1 Bamboo Shoot restores 1 Heart.

When you fixed the bridge, cross it and go left a bit. Here you will find the house belonging to the blacksmith, get the require stuff and fix it up.
When this is done head up north on the main road, go right at tthe first oppurtunity and you should reach the broken down mine entrance, an old guy is probably standing in front of it.
Just ignore the guy for now and repair the mine entrance, when this is done finish up for the day and go to bed.
As you can read above, I assume you do these 2 repairs in 1 day, if it takes you more then 1 day then it might be that the cutscenes are a bit mixed up from your game and this tutorial.

When wake up and if you're ready head up back to the mountain trail, as soon as you enter this screen, a cutscene will start.
You will see a young woman standing in front of the blacksmith shop, she's wondering who fixed the house.
She introduces herself as Melanie and she thanks you for fixing the house in a kind of weird way.
Then she starts talking about her gramps named Gus and asks if you have seen him.
At this moment you have no idea who that is but then she says that he probably can be found at the mine.
You'll probably already figured out that it's the old man you saw before, so go to the mine entrance and talk to him.
You scare the hell out of him but he soon cools down and starts complaining about his back, now he wants you to use his hammer to go get some iron from the mine.
So enter the mine and break the first rock, if you are lucky it will yield iron, if you are not lucky then you will need to find the stairs and go a floor down and try again.
Watch out though leaving and entering the mine over and over will cause the time to skip quit a bit.
When you found the Iron talk to Gus again, hand over the iron and Gus will be very happy.
As soon as he tries to walk away his back is acting up again, so you'll need to help him get down the mountain and back to his shop.
When you arrive Melanie is already waiting inside, she is concerned about her gramps, but Gus is very happy to see her.
Melanie and Gus will thank you for everything and as a token of appreciation you can keep the Hammer that you borrowed from Gus.
