What is wrong with this Harvest Moon?
First to say: I kinda like this game.
I'm a looooooooong time Harvest Moon fan (Starting on the SNES), and I was at least okay with most of them.
But there are a few thing that are just wrong in this game.

1. the biggest problem this version has is balancing.
EVERYTHING is worth to much money, EXEPT the stuff you grow on your farm.
You can spent a Month working all the time on your farm and you will not get the same amount of money you might get with a day at the Mines or a day fishing.
There is simply no point in growing crops, exept if you aim for the archievments or to fullfll orders from townsfolk.
And that is just bad for a harvest moon game. There is no need to harvest in a Harvest Moon-game....this already sounds wrong.

2. Days are a bit to long. You get so much done each day...and after you went throu 15 levels in the mine, watered all crop, took care of your animals and talked to each npc you can find, it still only 11 am.

3. Whats the point of Cooking? I went for it, cooked some fish with salt. The dish was worth less than the fish was before. For regaining stamina? A few bamboo shots will do the same. Or I just buy some bread at the restaurant or something. Feels like another "useless feature" to me.

1.every harvest moon game ever

2. I certainly don’t get less done in other HM games

3. The point of cooking is cooking

It sounds like you may be forcing yourself to play the genre despitenot liking it, which is pretty silly

1. I suggest you play this game a little longer then only 16 hours, Certain mutated crops can fetch a lot of money, but guess what you actually have to work to unlock them. and like SlackerBoe said what is so different than any other HM game.

2. Once you get to the point of actually mutating crops, have 30 animals walking around, have a bunch of request to do, you want some fish, get material from the mine, keep all your freshly unlocked fields clean, harvest from your fruittrees and get all other stuff done, you would wish the day had double time. but once again you only played for 16 hours, you haven't unlocked anything yet.

3. the point of cooking is the same as in any other HM game, it's a fun addition but not really neccesary, try getting the cooking achievement, i dare you.

Soooo...I'm basicly still in tutorial mode?

Well. I remeber in the SNES HArvest moon, everything exept the stuff you did on your farm was worth little to no money.
And the GBA-Harvest Moon games I played, there where never enough time to do everything that was needed to be done.
Not to mention "harvest moon grand bazaar", where there was not much besides crops and animals.

You’re just getting better at the game.

Friends of mineral town’s basket brought deep mining to a new level of one day profit margins.

I have been able to talk to everyone who appears on the map everyday+farm 100 crops and still have time to make other goals in every HM I’ve played.

I’ve never seen a harvest moon game that wasn’t easy mode.

Finish these checklists and then see if you are not still busy ... and this is not all there is to accomplish. Although, any game still needs polishing. In fact, I think that this game will live or die according to how much they keep improving and maintaining it. I think it has great potential.

uhhhhgg. the new harvest moon games are pissing me off. i miss the old 3rd person view and nice quality gameplay. like "a wonderful life" or "save the homeland" for ps2. those were the best. i wish they'd remake it like the original without the worse graphics they have now.

Light of Hope was developed by a different company than those old Harvest Moon games you played. Natsume (new people, unrelated to the old titles) have made Light of Hope, Skytree Village, Seeds of Memories, and The Lost Valley.

The original Harvest Moon devs are now called XSEED and continue the series under a new name: Story of Seasons. I recommend you pick up Story of Seasons if you miss old Harvest Moon!

Here's a short article about it:

INCORRECT!

-Marvelous is the ones who made HM before, and now make SoS

-Natsume used to localize, hence owning the name.

-When Marvelous went with XSeed as their localizer they dropped Natsume.

Marvelous is the ones who actually make the game, XSeed is the localizers, but Natsume used to in fact have at least something to do with the old games. :3

Thanks for corrections. I tried to answer, but I'm not exactly clear myself. I'm disappointed with the new HM games, too, and sad it reflects poorly on the old games to newcomers to the series.

That's fair.

Personally I enjoy them, however I do see that they do have their issues. And just because I like them doesn't mean that others in any way have to.

There's just a lot of misinformation out there it seems like.
