How does this compare to Stardew Valley?
Big Harvest Moon fan but I haven't console gamed in over 9000 years so... I haven't been able to play the series in awhile. Is this a cash grab or the real deal?

Opinions are divided, some love it some hate it. if you expect the the Harvest Moon, from the gameboy advance and game cube time you'll get disappointed. this game is like two towns, grand bazaar and the lost valley from the (3)DS. I personally really liked this one, not at the start but i kinda rolled in it and eventually got the Harvest Moon feel.

This game felt very lacking for me. you can beat the story quest easily by mid fall, Y1. All that is truly left for me to do is to mutate crops.

I had the same experience as Tuckr13 - I actually found out about Stardew from other discussion posts and I LOVE IT WAY MORE! For the price, this Harvest Moon was a big let-down.

Both games are good, and both have good and mad points. I hate the mining in SV and I don't care for the characters, for example. It's not really fair to compare them. They each offer very different experiences. You should get both!

Despite what the person said above, HM Light of Hope is much more like the old HMs than the newer ones, except you can mutate crops. Definitely give it a try if you enjoyed the classic HMs.

to be honest im glad i saw a play preview on youtube by DF before i bought this, as a harvest moon fan, to me this game looks / plays horrid, i would have got this and the switch version but thankfully i've been saved.

dont believe me? go look up dangerouslyfunny's honest review of the game

Its pretty good but not as good as the old ones
starting to get better again though - while the artwork is soso

Stardew and HM are still pretty different overall, Stardew does many things right but it just doesnt realy have the same wibe. Even though the old HM were still way better, the wibe is still somewhat there.

Both games will have coop (stardew in beta) - but i would say stardew gets very likely the better coop experience while the sp experience i prefer HM over it in a way.. i dont like modding (at least if they change original gameplay.. like buffing stamina which wasnt intended that way) so the biggest plus for stardew isnt so much to me (even though there is a "bigger" mod already in development for HM aswell)

coop and "more to do" : stardew
"less to do" but a better feeling (in my opinion, this doesnt have to be the point for you) and a more chill way: HM / SoS

Its what we got so far, who knows maybe they will port old games to pc at one point. The control are for switch so they CAN feel odd, but you get used to it fast. And wasd + xc is way better than touchscreen function to move and interact
