there is a website that I have used for all my previous Harvest Moon games when I felt stuck or unsure about somthing. It is called Fogu.com. The Light of Hope walkthrough is still being worked on, but there is still a link you can click that takes you to what they have completed so far. It mentiones your child and that you will need to make baby formula every day. (it says you can feed it though I know in previous games that was only to raise its friendship level, so im not exactly sure its a requirement?). It also helps understand mutations of crops and flowers a little bit better as well. :) Hope this helps a little :D
