How can I get wool only without abusing animals

There are heaps of requests requiring ordinary wool, ordinary donkey fur etc. and all my animals drop is the good quality stuff.
Is there any chance they can fix this so you can use higher quality ingredients to fulfil requests? Frankly I'm not going to bother playing any further if I'm forced to abuse my animals to make progress. That's pretty much the opposite sort of action to why I wanted to play this game in the first place.

You can use higher quaility ingredients. It will even ask if you are sure you want to since it is higher quality.

Nope. I have the higher grade of wool and I've tried going to the people who made the requests. It just let's me talk to them. For some items it works....eggs for example. Not for wool.

Ahhh I figured it out. Apparently it does let you use higher grades of items, but you have to have all the same grade of item. So I had 4 bits of wool in three different grades and it didn't count them. If you have 4 x ultimate wool it does work.

NB. It won't show you any progress towards your goal using the higher grades. Eg. I had 2 x ultimate wool and it only said I had 1/4 (because I had one regular wool). But then once it hit 4 x ultimate wool it shows you that you have it in the request spot. 4/4

OK so back to my original complaint, only the problem is building. I need 2 cotton candy wool and 5 donkey fur to finish a couple of the bridges. Trouble is all my donkey fur and my cotton candy wool are higher grades. I gathered up 5 of the "Great donkey wool" and 2 of the same in cotton candy and it won't let me finish the bridges. Screw this game.

on the building you can choose what quality you want to use, you have to pick the right quality

Sorry, can someone explain this to me? I have a lot of requests and recipes asking for regular/normal/plain quality items (Wool as opposed to Great Wool, for example). I have not been able to figure out a way to hand in lower quality items to complete it. Sometimes they allow me to substitute, sometimes they don't and I am super frustrated.
