Does anyone know how to get the Snowman crop?

I planted mellow yellow on winter, beach-using melon fertilizer...but they all died almost instantly

Mellow Yellow in winter on the beach with melon fertilizer is right.. But you also need to plant it in a checkerboard pattern (ie no melons side by side, but they can be diaganol).

If you get no storms you shouldn't need to fertilize them a second time before they harvest..

If you save the night before they are done and reload-sleep and check them over an over you can get around 8-12 per 90 (from what my luck has given).. Idk if its 30 or 50 to unlock the seeds yet.

Thanks a lot! I was planting them side by side.... that's why I received only weeds lol!
