I seriously can't figure out how to catch a friggin fish.
I wait so paitently until the bobber disappears (!)
Then a bar appears now, regardless if I hold my mouse, click furiously, click slowly or don't click at all, I lose the fish.
IMO having to wait HOURS for a fish to bite (if the shadow appears, if not you gotta move), then holding steady to ONLY click when the bobber dissappears, THEN have a fishing mini game of some sort is overkill. Its like they smashed together EVERY fishing mechanic used in games in the history of forever. WHY?!!

I dunno, I just tapped when the bobber went down and kept tapping fast. I had a fish 1 second later.

Thanks! I tried again using the key instead of the mouse, and I managed to fish up a stone tablet.

For anyone else looking for how to fish.

How to fish

There are three phases to fishing.

You find a suitable location to fishing, you then get a bait selection.

Phase 1

Once the fishing bobber is in the water, various generic images of fish will swim around the bobber, eventually swimming in to it. (it's possible for there to be no images of fish, you should recast if this should be the case)

Phase 2

The fish will then do one of three things:

• Pull on the line causing the bobber to create a light splash.
  
• Get bored and move on, forcing you back to phase 1.
  
• Tug on the line creating a big splash and then an exclaimation mark will go over your head.

Once you see the big splash and exclaimation mark you press activate or click again.

Phase 3

At his point a bar will come up, you have to repeatedly press activate or click to deplete the guage.
Once this bar is depleted you will catch the fish.

How to get the fishing rod

You need to rebuild the town of the Aristocrat, his house is the middle right of town, accessible from the bottom.

The Day after you his house is rebuild you will get a cut scene outside your house. He will ask for some food.

After givine him some food, he will give you the rod as a gift.

I can't get the Tablet Shard

The inventor has a cutscene involving the first half of the tablet.
In order to get the second part you must rebuild his house to watch this cutscene

His house is located at the top left of the mountains area. past the spa.
