I played my first Harvest Moon on the Gameboy. It was released 1997, nearly 20 years ago.

It only took one single Developer to make this feature possible in a direct competitor to Harvest Moon which never had same-sex relationships in any of their many games since two decades.

if they are afraid of cultural taboo they still can implement it as a secret objective for people who enjoy it, to be harder than default marriage, so people who aren't interested in it will never encounter it only those who care about it like for example secret gay intimacy events in FF VII

im really glad that this game doesnt need to pander to petty things like same sex marriage.

in dating games or visual novels or hentai, i guess it's a diff matter.

but this is about NATURE and growing things and creating life.

last i checked, a seed doesnt grow if something is missing.

First off, I am sure you offended someone. This is a given in this day in age. Especially when your comments making you out to hate homosexuality. Which hey, go for it. It's the same as racial hatred. You can feel that way all you want. I mean I hate dogs (most of the time). You hate gay people. Now as long as you don't act upon your hatred is fine. I am sure your not out beating up boys kissing in the streets. Just like I am not kicking dogs every day (puppies are adorable though).

Still, this game. The Harvest Moon series in general. Is not about growing things. This is not Farming Simulator. If you want a Farming Simulator. Try Pure Farming! Pretty good for just Farming. Just growing... "Things".

Harvest Moon has always been about growing up. Growing the community. Being active and supportive. Becoming Friends and eventually (just like growing up) more then friends. Starting a new life and changing who you are. Ya, you grow some crops and raise some animals. You do this all to better your life and the lives around you. If all you see is a farming simulator. Then, you are way off.

Next thing that seemed off. You seem to have a view that marriage (well same gender at the least) is about sex. I assume that is why you talk about hentai and visual dating sims. I don't know how you were raised in life, but marriage should always be about love. About a deep relationship you grew with time. I mean if your getting married for sex. That might be a poor marriage. But, hey maybe it works out for you. Yes, sex is usually a part of marriage. Though it's should never be the reason for it. Love is should be. Whether you love someone of the same or opposite gender. Should not matter.

Now, the choice to include that in the game is up to the devs or the company that owns the rights. It is a choice they make based on a lot of factors. I don't fault them for their choice in this matter. I wish they did include same gender relationship. I wish we could choose to marry who ever we want no matter what gender we choose to play as. Though in the end, it's not in this game. Still a fun game.

Also from the way talk about this subject. I highly recommend that you never play Story of Season: Pioneers of Olive Town. Out of all the possible romance options. You can hook up with anyone. Also, different skin tones. Not saying your not into that. Just letting you know, just in case.

And just in case. I do apologize if I offended you. I don't care what your world views are. You expressed them. I acknowledge your right to have them. I acknowledge that I don't agree with them. Keep free thinking all you like.

There's no difference in sexualization between homosexual and heterosexual relationships. You should really stop looking at lesbian/gay porn and thinking, that that's how homosexual love works. It actually doesn't change anything within the game other than changing some pronouns in the sentences. It will still remain as pure and wholesome as it already does.

And if loving other persons is already too much sexualization for you, then you should definitely also demand the removal of heterosexuality. Otherwise it's just a pretty obvious double standard you're using there.

And your attempts to hide homosexuality as hard as possible won't make it go away. The only thing that happens is, that kids, who turn out to be homosexual, have a worse live, because people like you try to indoctrinate other kids, that homosexuality is something bad and shouldn't exist at all.

well, you need to be really, really, really clumsy to get accidentally married into a same-sex relationship in already existing farming sims with same-sex relationships xD

There's no need to make it a secret. It's not the job of a couple to hide their existence, just because there are some people, who're afraid of their love.

but i it's VERY important to express that i genuinely wish it could be possible for 'people' to simply appeal for their "topic" without having to resort to projections or accusing others of "hatred" or "unnatural fear"

As already said multiple times: homosexual love is identical to heterosexual love. You just thinking about homosexual sex videos all day long doesn't turn homosexual marriage into hyper sexualized scenes. It's all just in your head, while kids just see it, like it is displayed: They love someone and are able to marry them. It's as simple as that.

And btw: don't even dare to take a word like "freedom" in your mouth, if the only thing you're talking about all day long is banning things and especially about something, which is proven to be good for children to learn early.

Seems like people get more pissed about other people actually having fun in a game.

But beyond that it's not really about being mad, but rather disappointed. The series once invented the genre of farming adventures and set new standards for relaxing games over the year, but since the old developers went away it rather seems like the new devs are just interested into making money without any effort and just using ideas from the 80s of how marriage works is just one hint on how less they care about their audience at this point.
