Does it offer same-sex relationships like Stardew Valley does ?
I played my first Harvest Moon on the Gameboy. It was released 1997, nearly 20 years ago.

It only took one single Developer to make this feature possible in a direct competitor to Harvest Moon which never had same-sex relationships in any of their many games since two decades.

I mean, i feel like you need to understand it is a game. The purpose of the game is to get married and have kids (to continue the story). If you don't want to complete the story, don't get married.

^^This.

Sick of weirdo's twisting and warping all the damn games to their agenda.

ITS A GAME! Either play it or don't. get a damn grip.

I'm all for same sex marriage, and all for wanting to emulate your life in a game. But don't expect them to change everything to pander to you. If you want same sex marriage and it isnt available here, go play SDV

The Japanese version of Harvest Moon DS Cute actually had same sex marriage with the special bachelorettes but Natsume disabled that system when they published the game in the West.

Nowadays, the Story of Seasons games lets you get around that by first making you pick your gender but allowing you to dress your character in any clothes you want (boy or girl) and have any hairstyle. Plus they tend to avoid characters addressing you by your gender and simply call you by name. Main downside of course is that you have to pick the opposite gender of the person you're interested in and can't change your mind later (unless you start a new game).

It's actually something we received a fair amount of feedback on and have included in recent titles. In The Lost Valley, Skytree Village, and Seeds of Memories, all have storylines tied to marriage and having children. For example, in The Lost Valley the 7th and final Sprite isn't even introduced until you're married with a child. Completing all the memories in Seeds of Memories includes having a family and raising your children (yes, plural) to a certain point. In Skytree, your child does grow old enough to assist with farming.

This sounds very discriminatory as if Im gay Im (A) forced to marry a girl and (B) make children to progress further in these games. This discriminates / excludes people that (1.) are gay, (2.) want a single life, (3.) dont want children, (4.) want to adopt children while being in a gay relationship etc.

The worldview regarding gay people has changed dramatically since the first Harvest Moon was released 2 decades ago. It would be nice if the developers of Harvest Moon would acknowledge this fact and refrain from developing forced heterosexual / gay discriminating games and allow all players to play as the gender they prefer.

Also, as a severly handicapped (Autist) person it would be nice if some handicapped NPCs could be integrated into the game world (as potential relationships).

Jesus Christ how do you people function in every day life? Can you walk down the street without being offended at something?

^ Seriously. There are plenty of games that cater to specific niches.

If the creator of a game doesn't have -insert your desired feature- as part of their design, don't buy or play their game. Either hope the game can be modded, or play something else.

An even better thought. Make your own game rather than complaining about the games others make.

While I agree with that it's silly to force them to include it, please do list those "plenty of games".

Well-developed HM-like games where same-sex marriage is a thing?

As a person that sadly often seems to fall into niches, I can say, no, no, there aren't "plenty of games"
i dont think so . because if they enable equality marriage in harvest moon, natsume will announce it.

For anyone who visits this old post, the real Harvest Moon (Story of Seasons) let's you get away with choosing either Male or female and then wearing either gender's clothing. That way you can have a somewhat same sex relationship, youd just have to change "he" in game to "she" in your mind. They have said that they intend to have same sex marriages sometime soon, but this is what they can offer at the moment. If Natsume is going to continue to leech off the old Harvest Moons, they could at least give this option that the ACTUAL Harvest Moon developers intended.
My god, the dude juast asked a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ question. Is that reallly grounds to fire off a barrage of hate comments on the dude. You don't like same sex relationships? fine but that dosen't give you a pass to harass the dude. THIS is the reason we can't have nice things.

But yes, I do agree that Harvest Moon could benefit from fleshing out the marriage system a bit more as I feel like that is an area the games are weakest in.Like sure, you can get married and have a kid but what point is there in that when the kid doesn't age and doesn't do anything.

It's actually something we received a fair amount of feedback on and have included in recent titles. Well, I'm disappointed to see that the game does not has same-sex marriage. I hope the developers update not only their child system, but also their marriage options.
