Unlocks

As I have played through many times I have been unlocking some items, but not others.

Some have been just too difficult to come across i.e. getting 3 dirty bubble gums in one run or also 3 magma's, while not impossible, is unlikely and requires a lot of luck which can get to be somewhat annoying after many attempts.
Secondly, some which do seem easy enough simply haven't unlocked either. For example, the unlock for not pressing any trigger. I'm assuming this means no ability or weapon use in a room and I've done this multiple times on regular rooms and have not unlocked it. Also, the donating 10 hearts in one run, it's unclear if this means you must complete the run or not. I've done exactly as it said and donated 10 hearts, but upon dying before beating the final boss I did not unlock the item.

I love this game a lot, sometimes however it gets to be a bit much when trying to unlock just 1 thing and when you think you've done it and it doesn't work.

Some of the unlocks in the game are unlocked easier than others. As you noticed this one is a bit more difficult to unlock. If you loop the game it might be easier to unlock it as there are more enemies - possibly more artifact drops.

If you tried to unlock it in version before v1.2.0.1 - there was a bug where not always it was unlocked even if the unlock condition was met. It was fixed in v1.2.0.1 so you might try it again in the newest version.

We double checked it just in case, and It should unlock if you use hearts machine at least 10 times in one run. If you meet the unlock condition you don't need to complete a run - you can pause the game and restart/quit the run. In that case it is also unlocked.

It is possible, I did both in one run on my Nintendo switch. It is easy to do on the 4-6 loop. By then I was invincible from all the items I had. I finished loop 6 with 99 hearts 12,467 kills, and 946 items, about 40 of which were the frying pan.

What I did was run the ability bed of nails and on entering a area would instantly hurt myself for one heart but that would give me 40 seconds of invincibility and I would then anytime a heart was dropped trigger that ability again so that I would maintain a constant state of invincibility and my 99 hearts. In the later loops the shop is few and far between and the max risk level I obtained was 57, I had in my possession, something 35-40 artifacts four of which were dirty bubble gum and 5 magma. The gun I used was the thistle gun.
