Nice :D

Is this a hack or does GMS2 officially support 3d? I thought it was just a 2D engine.

So does this mean it's possible to make 3D side scrolling games with proper 3D backgrounds? Or will the performance be bad because the engine is "not unity/unreal"?

normally gms2 does not have a direct 3d system, but it is possible to simulate it by using images and manipulate them that it looks like it would be 3d

Yes with the manipulation of vertex buffers, matrices, and cameras 3D is possible.

Thank you and yes, I have a guide up, as of now its still in the "nooby" era, but as I get more and more into the advanced sections I will show how this was done. Its actually why I did it. I have even found a way to read 3D models with GMS2 but it takes some tweaking to get it working just right.
